Is this like back in the old days of not getting a low number till you prove you are in the NHL to stay? Montour good enough of a prospect to get his own thread?

I think he's looked like he belongs. A better option than several of the other guys that play for us.

I hope he and Stoner have switched places between here and SD.

Permanently.

I think the days of low/high numbers are gone. Given that guys like Rakell have kept their numbers.

He looks good enough but its been a small sample size. Theodore looked ready last season but never stuck.

“For me, it’s been pretty quick the last couple of years in learning the position defensively,” Montour said. “A couple of years ago, I was playing junior and kind of had the reins of doing whatever. College was kind of the same way. If I’m there to play offense, I’ll go, go, go.

“Coming here, Dallas and Marty really kind of picked on me about picking the right spots. And being a little smarter in that spot. Knowing when’s the right time to go. A lot of credit to them on helping me to do that, transitioning this way. I felt like it’s been good so far.”

This guy is a huge bright spot in our future. What a great end of the season and playoffs. I mean hockey at the highest level and he was RIGHT THERE.
