Another poor article by Eric Stephens IMO.
The way he writes it, it insinuates Despres was cleared to play in the playoffs even though he still had symptoms.
Yet Stephens doesn't take caution to get the story right and, you know, actually ask Despres if he was cleared to play while still having symptoms. How hard is that?
Right. If there is a story, THATS IT "iceman". I mean the guy is sitting there telling you he had dizziness, headaches, felt like he was gonna faint .... but he was cleared to play.
It's pretty simple. You don't need to be a wordsmith or a debate champion. Ask the question that is SCREAMING OUT "you told them about those symptoms and they left the decision to play UP TO YOU?"
BTW iceman has written 4 pre season articles now. One recounts what a great guy Carlyle is. In the other 3 he brings up the swedes 2 times. Once he pretty much says "well they aren't really hold outs until Sweden is done (not sure they are hold outs when Sweden is done unless Bob is confirming he's made his last, best and final offer). He then says WITHOUT ANY SOURCING "they are bullish they'll have them signed". I point this out because there is NO NONE ZERO ZILCH indication that ownership/mgmt has been asked the question or said a word about it. THAT TO ME IS THE SIN. Again, the obvious questions here are 1) What do the players say is going on and 2) What does mgmt say is going on. JUST ASK THEM, ICEY. It's really that easy. "Can I speak to Bob Murray for Mcnabb please for just a handful of questions". Then if you get to talk to them, ask them! If you don't get to talk to them say "mgmt is not taking questions on this".
It's not the end of the world, but for christ sakes it's pretty simple. I don't give a flying f*** what Eric Stephens THINKS the team is thinking about this, I want him to f*ing ASK THEM. How hard is that?
