Vatanen is a much better defender than Fowler.

Maybe Bob is doing the penny-saving yo-yo thing like he did with Bobby Ryan?

I suppose, but how much does that really save?

Roughly $4,600 a day in cap space for just Theo alone.

Is the payout per day, or per game?  I always thought that it had more to do with games played.  If Theo plays tonight, he will not have missed a Ducks game.

My understanding is that it's per day and not games played but I'm not 100% for sure.

I'm 100% sure it's per diem.

Not much better but I do agree that Vatanen is better off the puck in the D-zone than Fowler is.

Well, in your defense, most the time you hear things expressed by numbers of games missed. Like suspensions, how much time an injured player is out, the minimum amount of time missed to qualify as LTIR, etc. Some of those things, like the amount of salary a player forfeits to the players fund for a suspension for example, are actually calculated by games instead of days.

It's all meant to confuse us so we just sheepishly smile out of embarrassment and pull our money out of our pockets to support those very young millionaires and the people that make money off of them.  :243:

Unless the player is a habitual offender, then suspensions get changed to days rather than games, just to further muddy the waters.

Theodore will wear #27 for Vegas. Have to wonder if thats in homage to Scotty.

Still bitter and sore about losing Theodore. I rarely hope for things like this, but I hope he sticks it to Anaheim every chance he gets. I think this will turn out to be a massive mistake.

Not sure if it's related to Scotty or not, but that's the number he wore in San Diego

We don't let anyone wear 27 despite the fact that it's not retired here.  I'm guessing that means it will be one day.

As far as Theodore goes, I think he will be a good offensive defenseman one day.  I'm still happy we kept Vatanen and Montour in stead of him though.  I will say, with the departure of Teddy, the 2013 draft is one of our worst in years.  Wow!

Same reason 35 hasnt been worn since Jiggy. Those numbers are going up. Probably wanted Teemu to have the first honor and allow his number to hang alone for a few years as a show of respect before putting up a couple of others.

Gotcha, didnt know that. Never really paid much attention to the numbers or anything in SD

We will be pretty pissed and bitter about keeping Vatanen instead unless get gets flipped for a young, controllable, top 6 forward.

Montour is more understandable. I saw those 2 as a pretty even split. Theo had a stronger start to the playoffs, Montour had a stronger finish. Montour is slightly ahead of Theo as far as maturity goes, but I dont think THeo is too far behind. I think Theo has the highest upside of all 3 players.

If we can't get a top forward for Vatanen, I am more than fine keeping him. He's a quality right handed offensive defenseman.

Some people favor Theodore over Montour. Heck I even used to. But I now truly believe Montour is the more complete of the two players. Could be a force one day.
