The message from the players and their coach this morning was simple. Be ready for puck drop.

It might sound cliché, but it couldn't be truer. The Ducks have given up the opening goal in Game 7 in each of the last four years, and we know all how those ended. In fact, three of those came within the first five minutes and all four have been scored before the halfway point of the first period. According to the NHL, the team that scores first in Game 7 is 124-42 all-time (.747), including a 5-0 mark in 2016.

THIS is the absolute key IMO for the Ducks to win tonight; Ducks absolutely must score 1st (and hopefully often) tonight. They also have to shut EDM down and not give them and inch nor any momentum at all.

So true - and they KNOW HOW to do it! Make the Oil plat our way. Get it done, Ducks!!!

I just wrote a post in the Murray thread about the weight of the world being on him right now.

And at the very opposite end of the spectrum are the Edmonton Oilers.

All the pressure is on the Ducks. The Oil has already exceeded expectations. The Ducks are flirting with doom.

Regardless of what happens tonight, you are all some of the most fantastic fans I've ever encountered. Always a pleasure to to analyze the game, share our love for this team and even to passionately argue with y'all.

No matter what happens, you guys are the best!

Thanks K-9, and right back atchya!

I appreciate the level head you're always able to keep, even when things get testy and pissy. You always stay classy.

And you're focusing us here on what all our common ground is: the Ducks

God Save the Ducks!

I second this! K9 it's always a pleasure to read your posts, even when I disagree it's a good thoughtful read.

But no more eulogies! Oilers are done, not the Ducks!

I just hope we look better than the Caps.

Meanwhile, it seems like one of the bird teams has advanced today already, now it's our turn.

Way to score on your own goalie Teddy.

Here we go again.

Hello darkness my old friend...

So that's a goal in the first 5 minutes of the game to go down 1-0...

IN EACH OF THE PAST 5 YEARS.

Of course the refs miss a double-minor sticking call on EDM against Ritchie.

So the Ducks had better get 2 obvious non-calls their way.

In a game 7, at home, after leading the series 3-2 and losing game 6. This is surreal.

I can't believe that. We actually looked good and a rookie makes a rookie mistake. Back to the AHL for him. He needs to learn how to play in the d zone.

Not all Theo's fault, Gibson should have guarded the net better, he looked unaware of where the puck was.

Not to worry, we have a whole game to go.

Follow through is not high sticking. It's ref's discretion but it's somewhere in the rules that follow through on shots/passes doesn't need to be called.

That goal is 100% Theodore's fault.

But I very much doubt the Ducks don't score a goal tonight, so Gibson has the chance to keep it close.

I was halfway through a snarky post about Boll's icetime but he's had 2 good shifts.
