Those players include Korbinian Holzer (119 career NHL games), Ondrej Kase (53 career NHL games), Brandon Montour (27 career NHL games), and Nick Ritchie (110 career NHL games).

Upcoming playoff milestones include Perry one playoff appearance from surpassing Francois Beauchemin (97) for sole possession of second on the all-time franchise games played list and Getzlaf one point to 100 career postseason points.

Above and beyond being Gm 1 of a SC playoff series, I see this game as almost a must-win because we can't let the Flames get

the huge psychological lift of breaking their NHL record losing streak at the Ponda, especially in the first game of the series.

Going into this, we have an abnormally large home ice advantage against this one particular team. Keep the pressure on, boys. Continue making our barn a living hell for that franchise.

Which team do you feel has a harder time with the home ice advantage the Ducks hold on the Flames?

2 arguments I can see:

Ducks: Its in their heads that the Flames havent won in their building since 2006 and feel a since of duty to uphold that edge so the pressure is heightened

Flames: Its in their heads that they cant win in the Ducks building and makes them feel as if "its just the way it is" and fall victim to the old saying of "Gripping the sticks too tight"

I don't think it has to be one or the other. It could be both at the same time.

In fact, I hope to pray it's both at the same time.

I don't believe the Ducks think about the streak too much.  A lot of it was built before most of them even showed up here.

They'd be idiots not to think of it now.

Because for damn sure it's in Calgary's head, and it would be foolish not to try and exploit it.

For instance, getting the first goal of the game tonight, and especially the second, would put the thought in their head of Great, here we go again!

That would be high, high motivation to jump their ass from the first drop of the puck. Add that to them having intentionally injured Fowler, and they should be juiced.

And D-zone coverage. Make sure no one gets behind our unit.

I would have to strongly disagree. Just because something started befor eyou got there, doesnt mean its not a thing. Getzlaf and Perry have been here pretty much since the streak started and they are the leaders of the team. I would assume these guys, every single one, would take great pride in a streak like that and feel a sense of duty/responsibility to keep it going.

They better play to win.

Playing not to lose is not the right answer.

And D-zone coverage. Make no one gets behind our unit.

With one exception: Giordano

Let him go back there all he wants because the end boards are the best place to put the screws to another player.

The more he goes back there, the higher the chance that he'll leave there on a stretcher.

Add: let Gaudreau go back there too, but makes sure people look for that and "greet" him on the opposite side.

I think the Flames do have it in their heads.  They are going to try and get it out of their heads with a strong hard start.  If they can score quick, they will have a sense of optimism.  The longer the game goes without them scoring the more the heavy feeling of futility will sink into their souls; especially if we can get some scoring going.

Interesting, Stephens projected lineup has Montour and Theodore playing.

Hampus Lindholm-Brandon Montour

Sami Vatanen-Kevin Bieksa

Shea Theodore-Josh Manson

At least he's not using the Teddy-Bieksa pairing.

What in the hell was Gibson doing turning his back to the play?

Didn't have time to get set for that one.   1-1

Plus Manson turned into a spectator after his back hand attempt to clear the puck got intercepted and he let the CGY player get inside him for the tip-in.

Fling it in the net.

Has a good ring to it.

Sloppy game so far. Refs have called a lot, but there's even more they could have called. Guys met start taking some liberties because of what they have let go.

For those of you watching this on Prime, are Ahlers and Haywire doing the game?

The missed opportunities to onetime the puck on the power play need to stop. Good puck movement but no finish.
