A week ago, the Edmonton Oilers returned home in a stygian retreat reminiscent of Napoleon from Moscow after dropping back-to-back games to the San Jose Sharks.
Seven days and three wins later, the Oilers are back in a delirious city draped in blue and copper with a chance to reach hockey's final four for the first time since 1992.

Their power play is humming at a 24-per-cent clip (6-for-25) while San Jose is an abysmal 7.4 per cent (2-for-27) with the man advantage.
...
The cross-border song spat has prompted open letters from both San Jose Mayor Ron Gonzales and his Edmonton counterpart Stephen Mandel, urging fans to remember that despite the rancour on the ice, the Canadian beaver and U.S. eagle still must stand together, furry shoulder to feathered wing.

But not even Laraque would stand and deliver what this playoff series really needed Tuesday -- a Game 6 guarantee.
He wanted no part of mimicking Joe Namath before Super Bowl III or Mark Messier on the eve of Game 6 of the 1994 Eastern Conference Final. He really didn't want to be Rasheed Wallace before the Pistons lost to the Cavaliers earlier this week.
...
"Even if I was drunk or my life depended on it, I would never make a prediction like that," laughed Laraque.
"The only guys on our team who could get away with that are Chris Pronger and Jason Smith. You talk about fuel on the fire."

Ryan Smyth gives a wink at practice on Tuesday, but no guarantees of a Game 6 victory.

Roloson knows how to shake his mask off to get a whistle. Shouldn't that be delay of game?

Aha! Too much staring into your own sig, perhaps?
Dang! You caught me!
No, I'm watching the Pirates game and my OLN calendar said 7:00 start and I didn't bother to double check. I thought it was going to be perfect....back-to-back games but noooooo, they had to go change the time.
So I've got the Oil/Fish on the TV but on mute now.
