dribble.gif How about bossing them "big" kids Patty???? I want to see him back in the NHL. I think he could garner enough respect from any team of players to be mighty effective. If not as coach, as a GM!! Come back Patrick, the NHL needs you!!! sad.gif

I would expect Patty to make the jump to the NHL at some point, but probably after quite a few years of coaching at lower levels. I don't think he'd just dive into it until he is good and ready.

Coach Roy fans flames

Found this on NHL.com today. Apparently Wah is critiqueing the opposing goalie. Too funny. Best quote by opposing coach Ted Nolan:

"I think it's a bad thing for a goaltender, a guy of his stature to talk about a kid's abilities to play the game," Nolan said. "For a guy like Patrick to say he's going to choke . . . Patrick should just worry about coaching the hockey game versus who can play and who can't.

"He's always playing head games. As I told the guys, 'There's some good athletes out there. It doesn't necessarily make them good people."'

Pretty lame for a future Hall of Famer to be picking on 18/19 year old kids. Those kinds of head games don't belong in in the Juniors. This is a development league and you would think a player of his stature would be encouraging to the next generation, not slapping then down. I am not amused Mssr. Roy. nono.gif

He's right about Slade though, I knew he was Vancouver's weak link and figured he'd choke.

dontgetit.gif Developing kids need positive reinforcement, not belittling. Sad indeed!

In my opinion i think it's better that he didn't take the spot as GM because he has no experience in that. Besides he's doing a pretty good job with his 18/19 kids.

Looks like he's real popular out in Moncton:
QUOTE
Roy was soundly booed before each period as he crossed the Moncton Coliseum ice to the Remparts' bench and chants of "Pa-trick" rang through the building to start the game and when the Wildcats tied it at the end of the second period.

Even JSG had something to say about Roy's critique ...

QUOTE
Before he left Wednesday, he was told that even Patrick Roy is antagonizing goalies these days. Roy coaches the Quebec Remparts junior team that is playing in the Memorial Cup. He criticized Moncton goalie Josh Tordjman for "playing over his head. But I thought he gave up two soft goals."

Roy also said the Vancouver Giants would be 2-0 in the Cup with better goaltending.

Giguere laughed.

"I hope those kids aren't reading the papers either," he said.

If Patty was trying to get an edge over the Vancouver Giants, it backfired...they were on the verge of elimination but haven't lost a game since those comments! Dustin Slade even had a shutout last night! thumbsup.gif

I am a fan of Patrick's goaltending skills too...but his social skills may need a little work! I'm also a little protective of my 'Dub kids..
