The Hurricanes simply didn't have it last night. At least it was during the one and and only loss they had to spare.
I cannot wait for tomorrow night's Game 7. I'll be taping it, too.

Yeah, now maybe the press won't run stories that only talk about the Canes winning their first Cup.....winner takes all on Monday! Yes, I am glad it went to game 7, just to extend the hockey, just a wee bit more. Say hello to Mr B!

He's the one clear candidate for the Conn Smythe right now...
I wouldn't say that Pronger is chicken feed......
I don't think he'll win if Edmonton wins the cup. Pisani's been clutch in many games.
If Carolina wins, I think it'll be Cam Ward, but even then it could be Pisani.

Just a few days ago, they were one goal away from winning their first Stanley Cup. Now, they're trying to avoid a giant collapse against the resurgent Edmonton Oilers, who suddenly seem much fresher, a step or two quicker and a lot more determined.
Only one team has squandered a 3-1 lead in the finals. Sixty-four years ago, Detroit actually won the first three games against Toronto, only to lose the next four.
The 1942 Red Wings also are one of three teams that jumped out to a 2-0 lead and didn't win the cup.
The Hurricanes put themselves in position to join those infamous teams with a 4-3 overtime loss at home - on a short-handed goal, no less - and a dismal 4-0 defeat at Edmonton in Game 6 on Saturday night.
Now, it's on to the winner-take-all finale. Game 7 is Monday night in Raleigh.

Here are some of the key numbers from Game 6, and some looking ahead to Game 7.
1 -- Previous times in their six trips to the Stanley Cup Finals that the Edmonton Oilers went to a seventh game. That came in 1987, when the Oilers had a reverse scenario from this year: They won three of the first four games against Philadelphia, dropped Games 5 and 6, but won Game 7 at home.
2 -- Number of times Game 7 of the Final has been won in overtime. The Detroit Red Wings are the only team to win the Stanley Cup in OT. They beat the New York Rangers 4-3 in double overtime to win the Cup in 1950 and defeated Montreal 2-1 in overtime four years later to win the Cup.
...
35 -- Years since a team has won the Stanley Cup after losing the first two games of the Final. The 1971 Montreal Canadiens won the Cup after dropping the first two games to the Blackhawks in Chicago. The 1966 Canadiens and 1942 Toronto Maple Leafs won the Cup after dropping the first two games at home.
1972 -- Last time a road team won Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final. The Canadiens rallied from a 2-0 deficit in the seventh game at Chicago Stadium to beat the Blackhawks 3-2 and win the Cup.

Edmonton's Fernando Pisani, who has an NHL-leading 13 goals in the playoffs after scoring just 18 during the regular season, is an obvious choice for postseason MVP if the Oilers win.
On the other side, Carolina rookie goalie Cam Ward has been a major reason for his team's postseason success, taking over when regular-season starter Martin Gerber struggled in an opening-round series against Montreal.
But Edmonton coach Craig MacTavish threw another name into the mix - Oilers defenseman Chris Pronger.

"We have an opportunity to win the Stanley Cup. It comes down to one game. I don't think anybody is going to use the fatigue as an excuse."
...
"Sometimes you get a little bit more room out there by doing those types of things. I'm not sure if they're too comfortable taking those hits," Oilers center Jarret Stoll said. "Anything we can do to take away their time and space and make things uncomfortable for their skill, the better off we'll be."

I actually would give it to Pronger even if the Canes win tonight. The guy is just flat out brilliant.
