It has more to do with not wanting healthy dialogue and/or disagreeing with the direction of the team. Actually, people ARE free to disagree. They aren't free to be trolls, they aren't free to be rude and nasty to others, they aren't free to violate the terms of agreement that were agreed to when logging on to the site.
I'm not a fan of Brian Burke's either, yet I express my opinion without being disparaging of others who disagree with me and I expect the same respect back. Heck, I'm still a Kariya fan and yet they still allow me to be a moderator.

Oh, this is not true. Mrs B is a Kariya fan, but she does not cram her fandom of Kariya down everyone's throats like other posters have.
DK is just trying to keep some form of order on this board. Granted, he's not a mod, but for the most part, he says a lot of things that a good majority of us feel, but don't want to say.There are times where he *GASP* can be wrong, but that's everyone tho.
Calm down. Thank god we're not locked out this summer, or else this would get ugly fast.

As MT explained here warnings can be reduced after a year if the poster has improved.
I won't discuss the level of a poster's warnings on the board as they are a private matter and any query about a warning level should be sent to a mod.
Send a PM to MT after the year and you may have your level reduced Khan.
