Associate coach Dean Blais, hired away from the University of North Dakota two years ago, will come off the bench and work in player development, it was announced yesterday.

Taking Blais’ place is Gary Agnew, 45, who for six years has coached the team’s American Hockey League affiliate in Syracuse, N.Y.

Like many NHL teams, the Blue Jackets last year cut some ticket prices after the lockout scuttled the 2004-05 season. And, like many NHL teams, the Jackets have restored prelockout prices for the upcoming season.

And, once again, the Jackets have identified a number of "premium" games — seven of them — that carry an extra $10 cost to nearly every seat in the house.

Columbus activates Fedorov, Picard

The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated center Sergei Fedorov off injured reserve and recalled left wing Alexandre Picard from the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League.

Both players are expected to be in the lineup for Monday's game against the San Jose Sharks.

Personally, I hope that Andy Murray gets the job. I think it'd be a better fit than Hitchcock as Murray is used to working with an "underdog" kind of team. Besides, I miss Andy Murray's amusing pull-the-goalie antics.

Columbus to determine MacLean's fate

The Blue Jackets' ownership group will meet this afternoon at a private location, where they're expected to determine the fate of president and general manager Doug MacLean.

Majority owner John H. McConnell called the meeting, which will include the three principal minority owners-Wolfe Enterprises; real-estate developer Ron Pizzuti; and the Crane Family, which owns Crane Plastics.

The Columbus Dispatch reports that Anaheim Ducks assistant general manager Bob Murray is the leading candidate to take the position out of four finalists that include former New York Rangers and New York Islanders GM Neil Smith, Blue Jackets interim general manager Jim Clark and director of player development Don Boyd.
