But, without a doubt, the biggest question is whether or not Peter Forsberg will stay healthy all year.
...
The next biggest question the team has is between the pipes. Robert Esche and Antero Niittymaki both had similar numbers last season, so head coach Ken Hitchcock can't base his decision on stats alone. This battle might sort itself out in training camp.

Primeau to retire
QUOTE

"I've had those discussions with my wife and I will have something more to say about it either Wednesday or Thursday," Primeau explained to The Inquirer.

"It's very tough to face," explained Primeau regarding leaving the team and the game behind. "I have not talked to the club since last week. I had been looking to get myself back into a position to play."

Clarke goes on offensive defending offer to Kesler
QUOTE
"I don't give a (expletive deleted) if nobody likes me, I could care less," Clarke told TSN. "But they shouldn't be getting mad at me, I didn't put the (offer sheet) rule in the collective bargaining agreement. If they're mad, they should call Gary Bettman and complain to him. Get mad at Gary Bettman. He's in charge of the rules, not me. I didn't realize there were some rules we're not allowed to use."

Flyers centre Primeau retires
QUOTE

Primeau retired Thursday, ending a 15-year NHL career after failing to receive clearance to play because of lingering effects from a concussion. The 34-year-old Primeau had been trying to return from an Oct. 25 concussion after a hit from Montreal's Alexander Perezhogin. It was the most severe in a series of head injuries Primeau endured during his career.

Bob Clarke was burnt out. Ken Hitchcock was tuned out.

Now both are out of jobs, part of a dramatic Broad Street breakup Sunday designed to jolt the NHL-worst Philadelphia Flyers out of the cellar and end their worst start in 17 years.

You Can Go Home Again and Again - Bob Clarke Rejoins Philadelphia Flyers

The Philadelphia Flyers announced today that they have named Bob Clarke as senior vice president, according to General Manager Paul Holmgren.
...
Clarke, 57, will be involved in aspects of the Flyers’ player development program. He will be viewing and meeting with the team’s drafted players, including Steve Downie, Claude Giroux and Andreas Nodl, monitoring their progress and helping in their development as they move forward in their hockey careers. Clarke will continue to keep in close contact with those players until they sign a contract with the Flyers and join the organization’s system.

Flyers set to honour former captain Keith Primeau on Monday night

Keith Primeau was honestly baffled when the Philadelphia Flyers informed him they would honour their former captain before Monday night's game against Detroit.

"I was a little confused," Primeau said. "Because I have a hard time understanding that I deserve it. I appreciate it and I'm honoured, and that makes me nervous and anxious. I'm just humbled by it."

He knows he'll probably get a little misty-eyed Monday when the Flyers honour him with a video montage of his career highlights as well as gifts from the club. He'll be asked to say a few words and be joined for the on-ice presentation by his wife Lisa and children Corey, Kylie, Chayse and Cayden.

Jason Smith might be skating around Rexall Place next month with a C on his Philadelphia Flyers jersey.

The former Edmonton Oilers captain is one of three former NHL captains on the Philadelphia roster -- Danny Briere (Buffalo Sabres) and Kimmo Timonen (Nashville Predators), also acquired over the summer, are the others -- and Flyers GM Paul Holmgren gave Smith a rave review Thursday during a conference call.
