Under terms of the agreement, Kaigorodov, 23, will be allowed to attend the Senators camp, which opens Sept. 14th at Scotiabank Place.

If Kaigorodov makes the Senators, he will sign a rookie deal worth $1.1 million (all figures US). Should he not make the club, Kaigorodov would be expected to play this season in Russia.

Senators going with blue-collar approach

The Ottawa Senators learned the hard way last year that it takes more than talent to win the Stanley Cup, so they're taking a different approach into the upcoming NHL season.

"I think some of our players found out that talent alone doesn't do it," Senators coach Bryan Murray said as the Senators went back to work Thursday morning for the first time since their second-round playoff exit last spring. "(This year) it's more of a blue-collar approach."

Three-year-old Elgin-Alexander Fraser died Saturday night, within hours of watching the Ottawa Senators reach the Stanley Cup finals.
The little boy spent his last hours at home, nestled between family and friends on a mattress on the floor in front of the television, doing what he loved - watching the Senators play hockey.

This story reminds me of Maddie, the little girl that died at the end of last year. I'm sure the Red Wings fans on the board have all heard about her.

3 year old loved to watch hockey? I'm pretty sure at 3 he didn't really know what hockey was.

Actually, he followed the Sens and the local Stittsville hockey teams religiously and attended most of Stittsville's games. He could be heard yelling out sayings such as "move the puck," "line change" and "off the glass" quite often.

I just went over to the anaheim ducks site, and saw this. As a big time ducks fan and as this is the biggest time ever, after understanding that this is going on, how can we really steal the Cup away from Ottawa.

Report: Muckler out in Ottawa

According to the Toronto Sun, the Ottawa Senators have fired general manager John Muckler.

Muckler wouldn't discuss the issue with the paper, directing all inquiries to Senators owner Eugene Melnyk.
