Shane has signed a 1 year deal with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks (Qualifying Offer).

Shane was also in the Cancer for Maine Kids Softball toureyment...Going 4-for-4 with 4 runs and he won the Home Run Derby.

Greg Glynn was also pretty good hitting in two runs.

I was team stats man and team morale leader :pirate-ban-:

Well this good, I hope Drats stays and our other top guys continue to impress. Without Smid, we need a guy who can step up if we need it.

Pirates and Sea Dogs Help Strike Out Cancer, O'Brien Wins Derby
QUOTE
Portland, Maine - Pirates defenseman Shane O'Brien showcased his athleticism on Tuesday night in the Home Run Derby as part of the Ameriprise Financial Celebrity Softball Challenge to raise funds for the Maine Children's Cancer Program at Hadlock Field. O'Brien earned 25 points to capture the trophy over last year’s champion WGME-13's Adam Pellerin.

Good news :ana-ban: The Ducks need to get their potential 5-6-7 d-men lined up.

Question for Wildcat - what do you think are the chances O'Brien was signed to be traded?

It is very possible.....I know they tried to deal him at the trade deadline last year and I have heard he could be dealt.....Nobody is safe on this team.

It seems to me that guys like O'Brien, and Smid to an extent, have no place to go on this team. O'Brien is ready for the NHL but we already have six quality defenseman so he has no place to play. The best thing for him, and maybe the Ducks, is to trade him.
