The Montreal Canadiens now have as their ECHL affiliate the Cincinnati Cyclones for the coming season.

l,ink

The first professional hockey team here in Cincinnati was the Cincinnati Mohawks in 1949. The Mohawks were the AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens from 1949-1952, and then the IHL affiliate of the Canadiens from 1952-1958.

The Mohawks won the IHL's Turner cup each year from 1953-1957!

Yes, I am old enough, but unfortunately NO, I never attended a Mohawks game.

The Mohawks and several other teams over the years including the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks, played in the Cincinnati Gardens, which is an exact replica of the original Toronto Maple Leaf Gardens, minus the second deck. The Cyclones currently play at a newer arena in downtown Cincinnati.
