According to the National Post, Drew Celestino was so outraged at the new design, which attempts to mix the team's original blue and gold colours with the new stylized buffalo, that he has started an online petition.

In three weeks so far, the site has recorded 20,000 signatures and forced the Sabres to hold a news conference on Thursday, two months before the actual unveiling.

Interesting. I wonder what changes the Sabres may make to their new logo, if any.

I think the whole purpose of a design change is to do what's best for the fans and what sells the most money. If they feel they wont get any money from merchandise sales and lose fans to the design, the plan will most likely be nixed.

Personally I like it, but not in those colors. LIU is correct. The fans are the ones buying the merchandise. If it doesn't sell, then it's because the fans don't want to be seen wearing it.

Over 20,000 people signed their petition. If Duck fans want a logo that's not just a wordmark, they should do the same.

I don't really like Buffalo's new logo and hopefully the fans will win in not changing the logo.

What I don't understand is why they can't be the SABRES. They are the Buffalo Sabres, not the Buffalo Buffaloes. Use your team name, don't just push it aside and use Buffalo Buffaloes because you like it better.

LIU is right. Many of the Buffalo fans are upset because they are called the Sabres, and there is nothing in there having to do with a Sabre.
I don't know why they changed the logo and the colors, I liked their reb/black jerseys that they had. They looked pretty cool. And now they have just completely downgraded...
And people thought there was reason to complain about our new jerseys? Oh BOY....

I agree. I liked Buffalo's third jersey logo and thought that it would be their new logo. This one doesn't tie in wiht the name Sabres. Its just a swoosh logo with a buffalo head.

"We have been planning all along to use the original colours and logo as our third jersey for next season," Quinn said. "Given the outpouring of fan concern the last few weeks, we decided to make this announcement now instead of September as originally planned. We are still committed and enthusiastic about our new uniform and believe that fans will embrace it once they have a chance to actually see it."

Despite knowing the fans' feelings on the new logo, Quinn confirmed my opinion that they're going to use it and hope for the best. They've gone through so many processes in developing the concept and getting opinions that they feel justified in doing so. Kinda the same feeling I got with the Samuellis and the new Ducks logo.

This was a concept design, and it was a LOT better than the one they chose.
