According to a couple phone calls I have made it appears that the Habs are making some big moves


NYI Gets:
Mike Komarisek
Radek Bonk

MTL Gets:
Radek Martinek
Jeremy Colliton
Sean Bergenheim


The belief is this is to make room to sign JP Dumont.

And if you can beleive this......trade for Malkin. I know its been over the rumor mills, but this is a real live rumor, not something pulled out of thin air.

EDIT: FAN590 in Toronto is reporting this is a done deal pending medicals.

What in the dickens is Pittsburgh's GM on??!! If I am reading this correctly( ) This sounds like Montreal's GM got P'burg's GM drunk and make him trade Malkin.

The Islanders aren't going to get Evgeni Malkin. Seriously, he wants to play with Pittsburgh.
The Penguins are trying to boost their marketing power by having Sidney Crosby, Malkin and Jordan Staal
as their three core players for the future... especially for the franchise staying in Pittsburgh with a new arena.

Why would they trade Malkin now?

That first deal is an awesome deal for Montreal, especially if they acquire Dumont as well. Having watched a lot of Montreal games, I know about Bonk and Komisarek. Bonk is OK, but overpaid and Komisarek is an OK young defensemen, The return is pretty good though.

And about the Malkin rumored deal... WOW!

Hey, I am an Oiler fan who started coming here when I heard wildcat was revealing info about a possible trade of Pronger to the Ducks...since then I have kept coming back just to read that "Ducks Rumors" thread and wildcat man you are awesome. I didn't know you also break stuff that doesn't involve the ducks so I will spend alot more time here.

As for the Komy rumours, they still seem to be heated. Apparently now, according to Eklund, the deal is hinging on what Buffalo does to Miller.

As for this rumor, I don't get it.. NO credible media outlet is refuting this rumor or even so much as aknowledging it.

According to a habs blog wildcat, the player gainey wants is Nokoleinen, no more Bergenheim. Then this blog could be made up by just anyone.

I don't know, the whole thing is confusing. I believe that the rumor holds weight but something, anything would have happened by now if this trade was to be made.

I just don't see Gainey trading his young defenseman with as much upside as Komy.

Well I have a full time job covering the Pirates and Ducks for several media outlets so I am focused on that most of the time. I normally wouldn't given any thought to this trade rumor or I would have never posted it but the Islanders were trying to get Vishnevski when I found out about this potential deal.


As far as writing about rumors....I am not too much into that.....Rumors are such a crap shoot that I hate to write about them. I like the meat and potatoes of covering the game. Its safer.

I post the rumors on a message board where they belong.
