We got hacked last night around 9-10pm as far as i can tell. I work a part time job on Friday and Saturday nights so I didnt know about it until I got home @ around 12:30am. As far as i can tell they somehow hacked the password and got either Marshy's or my password and logged in as a site admin and changed everything. Not much I could do other than get our hosting company to restore a backup. Looks like we lost a day or so of posts and new members. Not all that big of a deal. Much better than the Great AD Crash of 04. That is why i spend the extra money for a more reliable hosting company. Looks like I am dgoing to have to update the board software to avoid this happening again. I'm in the process of doing that know.

Also thanks to everyone that contacted me last night trying to help and let me know what was going on.

Yeah, I had a maor scare there some Devil, Slayer or whatever he called himself. Pretty scary. blink.gif So... August 18th never really happened?? Or what?? Cause there is not the threads of that day, and I have 10 less posts. Oh, well as long as AD still works.

All I can say is that's great news, and thanks you for your work. Glad to see I got my profile back too.

The only thing we lost was our huge discussion with the Isles fans. That's all.

I have a question for MT, is there a way to trace this guys IP address from his last login, or when we restored the site did we get rid of his last login time?

MT,
Thanks for getting things back to normal, and for using such a reliable hosting company.

To all of you that enjoy this site, it might be a good idea to help MT out with the cost of the hosting and the software upgrade. Click here for more on donating to MT and AD.

Glad to see you guys got your accounts back. Some people just continued posting as usual. I saw LIU and "DuckGuy"(was that you MT?) talking about Ian Moran And Vish lol. TMDM also threw some humor into it. I believe he said " i cant believe no one has blamed this on Giguere" lol.

You guys are funny.

I got deleted with the help of some vulgarities. I guess he didn't like that, and I was kindly dismissed from the forum. So I made a new account, and talked about Vish and Ian Moran. We had a good time. It made my night, it was MT's night, and that's not cool, but it was fun for me.

Well since i'm in a different time zone I missed all the nonsense. I had to get up a silly o'clock for work today and came on-line for 20 minutes before my shift but noticed the charming hacked image. I was not best pleased though it was 7.30 am so I hadn't really woken up anyway. noexpression.gif

Glad things turned out okay. thumbsup.gif

Also have you ever thought about Ad's MT?...maybe one under the banner?...IMO that wouldn't hurt the looks of the forum...and will help the AD budget..

I don't know how much ads really effect the cost of the board.

What was the gist of the hacking?
It sounds like it was non-hockey related, someone just wanted to do some damage?

Strange.

Ad's give money per click to MT...which would help the cost of the board...but it's up to MT...I have a site that has ad's and the owner makes a ton of money off the ad's...just a thought...

M T if you want I can give you a email of the webmaster at the football forums I was refering about if you want to ask any questions about ad's which could be hockey related..

Personally I think boards look cleaner & better without ad's but it's MT site. The fourm I use for my local hockey team has started to use ad's and it's sighty annoying. I know it's business and a fact of life on the net but I still think we could do without them.

They do...but if it will help MT to keep the site updated and protected from hackers...then I wouldn't mind seeing a ad here and there...

I'm glad we got things all squared away. Last night was a little crazy. Thanks for the extra work MT. Even a hacker can't bring us down.
