This ain't your dad's NHL, folks. It's not even your older brother's.

Whether that's good or bad depends on your point of view, but there's no arguing the year-long lockout and resulting salary cap has changed the NHL's look and feel. Major annual roster shakeups are now a fact of life in all precincts, and those preaching the new-age wisdom of speed, offense and youth have taken on an air of genius.
--------------------
3. Chris Pronger, D: Pronger was the driving force behind the Oilers' great playoff run with his ability to control the tempo of things on the ice. He has size, strength, skill and smarts, all the things you want in a defenseman.
--------------------
6. Scott Niedermayer, D: He might be the best skater in the game, and certainly the best among defensemen. But there's a lot more to Niedermayer's game that just his legs. A lot more.
--------------------
22. Teemu Selanne, RW: Too bad the NHL doesn't give comeback awards. Selanne deserved it last year. He got over knee problems during the lockout and became one of the game's most dangerous snipers again.

Wasn't that not the Masterton award Selanne won for the last season?

The official definition of the award is:

QUOTE
The Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy is an annual award under the trusteeship of the Professional Hockey Writers' Association and is given to the National Hockey League player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey. The winner is selected in a poll of all chapters of the PHWA at the end of the regular season.
...
Selanne underwent reconstructive knee surgery in 2004 and spent the lockout season of 2004-05 rehabilitating his knee. He signed a one-year free-agent contract with Anaheim in August, 2005 for his second stint with the club and turned in a spectacular season. Without question the most popular player in franchise history, the relationship between Selanne and Ducks fans is truly unusual in modern-day sports, with Selanne spending countless hours signing autographs and visiting with fans.

This award can only be won once by a player and it's typically given to someone who's overcome adversity, thus the "comeback player award." Just look at the last 4 winners:

2006 Teemu Selanne Anaheim Ducks
2004 Bryan Berard Chicago Blackhawks
2003 Steve Yzerman Detroit Red Wings
2002 Saku Koivu Montreal Canadiens
