Tonight (or soon) I am purchasing some gear. A pair of gloves, a helmet, and a half-shield. Does anyone know from experience or anything if these are any good? I'm getting them from hockeygiant, and I know they are a good resource for hockey gear, but I was wondering how these items feel when you play or how well they work. Enclosed with each item is a picture.:

well they are not high end stuff but they will work for sure. Although they are on the cheaper side of hockey gear i wont lie to you. But anything you buy brand new that is Reebok or CCM has decency

I know they're cheaper. THey're the most I can get. But I might go for a more expensive visor...I want the mirrored one more than anything, but I don't have enough...

To be honest, if I was in the market for new gear, I would go with what fits best, and how protective the gear is. The RBK 3k gloves are decent gloves, and should work fine. They're going to be less protective than the upper models, and the palms might wear out a bit faster. But, they should be fine if you're going to play occasionally. Also, if you're just starting out with ice hockey, I would recommend wearing a cage instead of a visor. You tend to get more players who can't control their sticks in lower divisions. So, you'll end up with more face damage. Unless, you're an exceptional skater, if so, you'll be able to avoid them. =). Once you advance, you can decide from there.

If I were you I'd get a Itech helmet with the full cage helmet.

No offense to Nike Bauer, but I don't trust them with my hockey gear. And I'm just getting the gloves. And a jersey, but I can't decide what jersey...

IDK how old you are, but if you want to play ice hockey and you're under 18, you HAVE to wear a full cage.

You're also required to wear a neck guard (under 18)

You didn't "talk me outa the helmet" I found a more notworthy investment, which cost as much as thios gear.

Not true. We don't here in Maine, and hockey's basically from here, and we're on the cutting edge of safety and technology and all...so....yeah. laugh.gif

Well.. my first helmet was that CCM helmet, and it never really fit my head, and now it's falling apart. I'm using the Jofa 390 which is much more comfortable and just seems to last longer. I used to use the Oakley visors, but it just pissed me off to be constantly cleaning it and afraid that it's going to get scratched up. So I went with the Itech half cage...

"Hockey is basically from Maine". I'm not Canadian, so I won't take offense to that. The mere fact that you're from a "hockey state" baffles me. I'm surprised you would say something like that. I will admit that my statement was a little broad and should have been a little more specific. Youths are required to wear neck guards. And, most leagues/rinks don't follow the same rules. Regardless of where you are from, if you're just starting out, a neck guard is probably a good idea. Even lower /mid level rec leagues get sticks in the face, and cross checks to the neck. Just be safe out there and have fun.
