Okay, so I've gone to my dad's house now, and it's still offering me the explorer user prompt, I tried doing what you said forebsy, but I couldn't get where I had to go.

I can't view the main page, everywhere else I'm fine, but on the main forums page it asks me about 10 times to do the Explorer User Prompt, then it opens some sort of a paint program.

Is this something the board is doing, or is it something wrong with my internet, or my profile? Anything?

Yeah, mine's happening on AOL. Maybe Mozilla is the way to go? hmm.gif

EDIT: That sounds very much like a firewall issue. Maybe it is the Javascript like forebsy told me, or it could have something to do with a firewall that came when MT bought the new stuff after the hacking incident.

I updated my Java package and I still have the same problem. It even looks like a virus hmm.gif

On the other hand I use Firefox almost exclusively wink.gif

I've had enough trouble with viruses. If it is a virus could it still be coming from when that guy hacked the site? That doesn't make sense though, because he was gone for a long time. But Marshy just posted yesterday, which was when it started happening. hmm.gif

The site seem slow to me as well today, though I'm not getting any error messages. It has never been slow unless a big trade has increased the traffic.

I was unable to use it at work (with IE) because it continually told me that there was a Trojan virus trying to get through a backdoor. The security at work kept stopping it, so I thought I'd wait a while and try at home. Now, with Firefox, all is well. Very odd.

I can barely get on the site now, and usually, this is the only site that actually loads for me before I fall asleep because it takes so long. I'm using Mozilla Firefox as well, and I haven't had any problems other than slow loading.

I just checked Internet Explorer and I'm not having any problems with the page except for slow loading.

I've been looking into this and it seems as though this may be another problem from when we were hacked. I working on getting it resolved with our hosting company.

Mortar told me he can get to the home page, but any further, and he catches two viruses. I work on an Apple iBook, so I can't catch viruses, but I have the slow loading problem.

I've been getting this too at both work and at home.
I put the site the file was trying to download from (ygqvftewol.biz) in my restricted sites and that seemed to work on not having the prompt or file come up. I've done this on my work PC, haven't tried it or tried going back on here at home yet. Probably won't get a chance to as I'm airborn tomorrow.

I'm wondering if this is a "time release" thing. A couple of mornings I've tried to access (Pacific Time) and the damned thing did it's download and the prompt thing. But when I've accessed in the afternoon or evening nothing happened.

I think Firefox might not be recognizing that it's a virus. Then just letting it pass on through.

I've also been noticing that since this has been happening I've been getting signed out of other Invision Boards randomly.

Perhaps Firefox is ignoring the specific Micro$oft scripting requests and is immune to the problem. The anti-viral software would otherwise be catching and quarantining any virus trying to infect the operating system.

Uhh, more like the reverse...IE allows websites to install software automatically (plugins, viruses, etc.) while FF does not. Since the virus is only happening to people running IE it sounds like someone found a way to exploit one of the MANY security holes in MSIE.

Hmm...Someone got AD good. No clue how or where it came from, but I can talk to a friend of mine about this. There's nothing about computers he doesn't know.

I get the message going MSN's browser, but not through FireFox.

Ahti has been saying on the fantasy league that he hasn't been able to get on All Ducks in the last few days. I wonder if this is what's causing his problem. hmm.gif

I wasn't sure what to tell him, so I simply told him to contact MT.

For those of you who haven't figured out how to bypass it for the most part, if you go to allducks.com and go towards the bottom of the page, and click on the links on the left hand column (the ones that go to the AllDucks posts) and once you get into the forums, you can navigate through the site using the "Site Jump" tool on the bottom right of the page. Only the home page seems to be infected by this virus. At least visibly.

We have Firefox and I haven't had any problems at all. I rarely pull up the IE unless I absolutely can't get something to come up on Firefox.
