Yea I know being a Kings fan here isn't good, but well you know what they say, keep your enemies closer. I only just discovered this board and am wondering why people hate Avery so much? Now I know Avery is just that kind of guy but I'm wondering why people here specifically hate Avery? Maybe because I'm a Kings fan I'm biased, but to me he always plays 100% and yes, he's an a-hole, but when we were down two goals last season (i forget which team) he ran his mouth, got the guy after him, turtled, and gave us 5 whole minutes to do something. We didn't but he tried something. MY main question is if your hatred is him, or that he's the most hate-able guy on the Kings? In other words, what if he was on the Ducks?

Great example of what a low-life he is. He's a worthless player as far as I'm concerned, and it has nothing to do with him being a King. The day he starts backing up his loud mouth, then maybe, MAYBE, I'd consider giving him the respect of maybe, I don't know, a piece of my dog's poop. As of now, he's not there yet.

I'm too new to hockey to say what he is, but I have to say he does have heart. Although I think calling him a low-life because he turtled in the game I referred to is off, considering it put the Kings at a major advantage, showing in some cases he's a team player. But for you Ducks fans he has to face Laraque(s) 8 times this year.

Well its pretty simple. Sean Avery has no class, he is a classless player, he lacks class, he is absent of the concept of class, if he took a class on class he would fail miserably.
On the other hand, the Ducks entire roster is full of the classiest people in all of the NHL.
It's a conflict of interest.
There is a reason why the Kings technically FIRED him for a period of time.

I personaly love Avery....
As a fantasy pick when PIM is important
Seriously he is THE ONLY player I would never want on the ducks... He is a loud mouth coward with no respect for players or the game. The scenerio you layed out demonstrates that well.
I'm considering atteneding a couple games at the staples center this year... Not when the ducks go in and stomp all over avery but when the coyotes are in town...
Look he's entertaining.... Ill give him that much... When the kings are getting worked over you can just sit back and wait for avery to do something truly shady and pathetic.... That's what he is good for... Entertainment.... But I think he is poison for the game.
I would venture a guess that all of the people on this board who hate kariya for the way he left would gladly pick kariya over avery if it came down to who they would want to be involved in the next ducks trade.

Lets just say that Avery is a cheap shot and won't back up his words often enough. I'll give you that he does work hard, sometimes, but it does not make up for the type of person he is. Just remembering some of the outageous things he said in the past season, from the monkey comment to the the French-Canadian comment still infuriate me. Oh, and one more thing, I remember reading at some point last season, I think towards the end of it, that McDonald was on Avery's list of players he most hated. Now how does a guy like Andy Mac get on somebody's hate list !?!?
P.S. I'd take Kariya back over Avery any day that ends in y.

He will never be a Duck as long as Burke has control. He doesn't like mouthy turtles.

The Ducks used to have a guy just like Avery, he'd goad the other team's guys into fights and not drop the gloves, he took some epic runs at a goalie in calgary, and lots of Ducks fans used to like him too, but looking back now, we were all blinded by the jersey he wore on his back. Guys like that don't deserve to be in the NHL. This is supposed to be the pinnacle of the greatest sport on earth, we don't need loudmouthed, cheap-assed, classless goons to confirm the thoughts of thousands of hockey skeptics that this is just WWF on ice.
Since you are new to the sport, if you want to see heart, I suggest you research guys like Adam Oates, Mario Lemieux, Ray Bourque, Mark Messier. Or if you want someone who's worn both a Kings and a Ducks uniform, Dan Bylsma.

Time to use our imaginations! The time is 1942, this is a Jewish board, and Jerikai is a German. We pick things up with our first post:

I believe you're talking about Kevin Sawyer, and I was always disgusted with the way he played the game. Anyone that goads people into fights and then refuses to fight is a coward and does not deserve to be in the league. Even when he was on the Ducks, I hated him. When you, yourself, admit that the guy is an asshole, that should tell you something right there. I don't know anyone who I would describe as an asshole with heart.
Avery was part of the Ducks organization, in a way, when he was in Cincinnati Ducks. That was close enough for me and it didn't go too well, as I recall.

Obviously I haven't made any points, so I'm here to try and clear up some things that just make me look like I know nothing at all. First of all, heart was the wrong word. Intensity is more what I meant. He always goes out there and plays unlike some higher paid guys who do nothing then blame the equipment. Also I said things about how he's an a-hole and the like but I was just trying to show that yes, I understand why people don't like him. He'd do a lot better to just keep his mouth shut. However I think the physical aspect of the game of hockey makes him seem a lot worse than he is. In other sports your allowed to talk trash and not back it up. Sorry for the comparison I know this is hockey, just saying, I don't think what he does is all that bad. I have a much bigger problem with Cowan refusing McGrattan, then when he's ejected going after Kelly. In all honesty I guess my main question had to do with why Avery? Of all the people to hate, why Avery? What about other people who I think have done a lot worse? Bertuzzi of course, but what about Corvo. I had a lot of problems with Corvo after I found out about his past, and am a little glad he's gone. However, I would love to hear reasons why I'm wrong, its why I asked after all.
