It will be interesting to see how arbitration plays out over time. I believe that arbitration is important to have, but the decisions need to be made within certain guidelines that don't end up limiting a player further.

If a player is given too high a reward, a team has to choose to keep them and go over their cap (which would require unplanned moves) or has to let that player go. Other teams may also be limited in their ability to cover salary. I would hate to see a good player end up not playing because no one can afford the salary he was awarded in arbitration. Crazy world.

Not sure if anyone wins in this situation.

Interesting article on TSN regarding the Devils and their options for shedding salary for cap adherence. I hope the other GM's are paying attention and don't let him wiggle through the LTI mentioned without some notice. I have little sympathy for GM that haven't quite got the hang of the new CBA and feel that whining about it might get them some relief.
