Saskin: Chelios lawsuit ''without merit''

"The claims issued in the complaint are the same claims that have been made repeatedly over the last 13 months by this tiny group," Ted Saskin told The Canadian Press in an interview Tuesday. "These claims, including the offensive allegations of illegal conduct, are completely without merit as has already been demonstrated in many forums on a number of occasions."

Judge dismisses suit against NHLPA

U.S. District Judge Suzanne B. Conlon ruled Monday in favor the NHLPA, agreeing with the union that Ontario, not Illinois, was the proper place for the suit. The NHLPA is based in Ontario and most of the witnesses live there.

NHL player reps vote to authorize probe into Saskin's hiring

"This is an informative investigation that we feel will preserve the integrity of our NHLPA constitution and leadership process," Mathieu Schneider, a Detroit Red Wings defenseman and interim NHLPA executive committee member, said in the statement. "The purpose of the investigation is to clear the air, produce clarity on these questions and fortify a strong unified union."

More scandal for NHLPA

Toronto police are investigating complaints that executives at the NHL Players Association accessed and in some cases blocked the email accounts of players who have challenged the hiring of the union's executive director.

As reported in Monday's Toronto Star, the police have been looking into whether NHLPA executive director Ted Saskin and Ken Kim, the union's senior director of business, ordered technical support staff at the union to access player email accounts hosted by the union, and whether such an action would be illegal.

Saskin sent home on paid leave of absence

It was the beginning of the end for NHL Players' Association executive director Ted Saskin on Sunday night as the players' executive board voted to send him home on a paid leave of absence while an internal review continued and more questions get answered.

The 30 players reps on the Sunday night conference call also voted to put NHLPA senior director Ken Kim on a paid leave of absence. Saskin and Kim have been accused of monitoring NHLPA player e-mails, the explosive allegations that led to Sunday's executive board conference call.

I see why I've never been a big Linden fan. And by the way, a lot of players are NOT millionaires. I think I hashed a lot of this out at the time of the strike. I don't know why it's ok for owners to be millionaires but it's used as a dirty name when talking about some players.
