Saw this over on HF boards and thought the idea was quite nice. There is a bit in there regarding Keith Carney's dad too.

How cool! Thanks for sharing smile.gif

If my son played in the NHL I would want to go with him on a road trip. Forget the dads biggrin.gif

Mom Parrish agrees with you:

QUOTE
"Mom's a little jealous," Parrish said of his mother Barb. "She actually called me last night and asked when the mom's trip was. But that would be a little weird."

"If they want it to happen next year, we'd better win a few here." -Rolston commenting on the first win of the Dad's road trip laugh.gif

Why would a mom's trip be weird? I think that would be a great idea. I bet it was mom who did an awful lot of driving to and from ice rinks at strange hours of the day so her son could reach his dream. Or is it that he wants to protect mom from the realities of his life as a hockey player?

Regardless, great idea. I know the Ducks did this a few years ago and it was a really great bonding time.

They were all seated in section 201 tonight, too bad they didn't have much to cheer about as the Ducks controlled most of the game. I really like this idea though, but I'm a sucker for sentimentality.

I think it's a combo of the Dad's are rooming with their sons (rooming with Mom would be weird) and you don't need to be on your best behavior around Dad...just decent behavior. wink.gif

Gaborik's and Boogaard's dads were walking around on the concourse during the 1st intermission. I thought Boogaard's father would be really (freakishly) tall, but he wasn't. Just normal height. And he wasn't trying to run anyone against the walls of the Pond either. biggrin.gif

They were very obvious after the game playing "follow the leader" through the Plaza level seats in their Wild personalized 3rd jerseys. They were trying to find their way down to the locker room. smile.gif Hopefully, the moms will get their special attention in some way too.

What would be so weird about rooming with your mother? Have they never been on family vacations together? On the other hand, now that I think about it, would I really want to room with any of my boys? Stinky and messy comes to mind.

The stinky part would stay at the rinks ... the messy part is tidied by the hotel room staff. The only slightly uncomfortable part for the moms might be visiting the locker room after the game. Don't know why moms couldn't be included on these special road trips ... the moms could room with each other and bond with their sons between practices and games and at meals.

In Saskatchewan, Bob Schultz jumped off his tractor, Len Boogaard off his RCMP; Doug White jumped off the back nine in Myrtle Beach. The other 21 of us just jumped for joy when the invite came to participate in the first-ever father-and-son road trip with the Minnesota Wild, Nov. 6-13.

"It was like asking a blind man if he wanted to see," said Marc Fernandez about accepting the opportunity to travel with goaltender son Manny on the West Coast swing to San Jose, Los Angeles and Anaheim.

Some special weekend at least with the moms would be a good idea. Afterall, hockey moms are just as dedicated as hockey dads.

I do remember the Ducks' Dads road trip. It sounded great too. The only damper was that PK had lost his dad that year, and that was kind of sad.
