Toronto Maple Leafs:
Projected lineup vs. Buffalo:
Forwards:
Ponikarovsky - Wellwood - Antropov
Tucker - Stajan - O'Neill
Battaglia - Peca - Steen
Kilger - Pohl - Suglobov
Defence:
Kaberle - McCabe
Gill - White
Belak - Kubina
Goal: Raycroft
Scratches: Bell, Tellqvist
Notes: Aubin has recovered sufficiently from his flu and is backing up Raycroft. - TSN
Buffalo Sabres:
Projected lineup vs. Toronto:
Forwards:
Briere - Pominville- (NA)
Vanek- Novotny - Afinogenov
Kotalik - Drury - Stafford
Paille - Gaustad - Mair
Ryan
Defence:
Campbell - Spacek
Kalinin - Numminen
Paetsch - Funk
Goal: Miller
Scratches: Hecht, Peters
Notes: Lines based on optional skate held today. Coach Lindy Ruff stated lines had not been finalized as Johan Hecht was not present at practice. First line LW Hecht is a scratch due to an inner ear problem that is affecting his equilibrium. Interesting development considering Hecht took a headshot late in Saturday's game against the Sens. Rookie Mike Ryan has been recalled from Rochester and will take Hecht's roster spot. Sabres are 3-2 at home including their loss to TO on Nov. 4 (1st regulation loss at HSBC). Sabres are coming off a 7-1 demolition of Tampa Bay on Monday. They scored all 7 in the 2nd period.- TSN
Calgary Flames:
Projected lineup vs. Chicago:
Forwards:
Tanguay - Langkow - Iginla
Huselius - Lombardi - Kobasew
Friesen - Lundmark - Amonte
Nilson - Ritchie - McCarty
Defence:
Hamrlik - Phaneuf
Warrener - Regher
Ference - Zyuzin/Giordano
Notes: Zyuzin's x-rays turned out negative, will be a game time decision. He didn't skate today and his injury didn't look good last night. Giordano would take his spot on the blueline. Playfair would not tip his hand concerning who would start in net for the Flames tonight. - TSN
Anaheim Ducks: Ducks backup G Ilya Bryzgalov might be sidelined for a few days. He has what is officially being listed as a lower-body injury, which occurred during practice Monday. Bryzgalov was unavailable Tuesday and will not join the team in Denver for tonight's game against the Colorado Avalanche. The Ducks recalled goaltender David McKee from their East Coast Hockey League affiliate in Augusta, Ga. - LA Times
Atlanta Thrashers: The spot between Slava Kozlov and Marian Hossa has been a revolving door all season - Niko Kapanen, Glen Metropolit, even Jim Slater at times. The latest is Bobby Holik, who filled that role in the final two periods Saturday and will get another chance tonight in Washington. - Atlanta Journal-Constitution
D Steve McCarthy's strained shoulder is taking longer to heal than initially expected. McCarthy skated with assistant coach Brad McCrimmon before practice but still has not been cleared for contact. - Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Boston Bruins: There were two significant missing bodies during the Bruins' 45-minute workout on Causeway Street yesterday: P.J. Axelsson and Marc Savard. Axelsson is unlikely to play in Pittsburgh because of a foot injury, but Savard is probable after missing practice because of a cold. - Boston Globe
Buffalo Sabres: First line LW Hecht is a scratch due to an inner ear problem that is affecting his equilibrium. Interesting development considering Hecht took a headshot late in Saturday's game against the Sens. Rookie Mike Ryan has been recalled from Rochester and will take Hecht's roster spot. - TSN
Colorado Avalanche: Jose Theodore, the Avs' nearly $6 million man, will start in goal tonight against the Western Conference-leading Anaheim Ducks - Denver Post
Barring a setback, head coach Joel Quenneville said the plan is for D Jordan Leopold to make his season debut during next week's trip through western Canada when the Avalanche plays Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver. - Rocky mountain News
Dallas Stars: Mike Smith, who relieved Turco on Monday and took a 5-4 win over Colorado, will start in goal tonight against the Nashville Predators. - Dallas Morning News
LW Brenden Morrow (leg) did not practice, but his injury from Monday is not as bad as first thought. He is questionable for tonight. - Dallas Morning News
Detroit Red Wings: G Joey MacDonald likely will play Friday against St. Louis. D Niklas Kronwall suffered a setback and won't be available tonight when the Wings host Vancouver. Kronwall has been sidelined since Nov. 10 by a groin injury. LW Tomas Holmstrom, also sidelined since Nov. 10 by a pulled groin, is expected to play. - Detroit Free Press
Los Angeles Kings: The Kings are short-handed on defence after Rob Blake and Oleg Tverdovsky suffered groin injuries. Blake and Tverdovsky skated Tuesday, but Blake was listed as doubtful and Tverdovsky questionable for tonight's game against the San Jose Sharks. - LA Times
Minnesota Wild: RW Pavol Demitra (concussion-like symptoms) and C Wes Walz (strained hip flexor) didn't practice and will be game-time decisions. The Wild have called up Benoit Pouliot from the AHL. - Minneapolis Star-Tribune
Montreal Canadiens: Tomas Plekanec is back between Alex Kovalev and Sergei Samsonov after the Canadiens returned Andrei Kostitsyn to the Hamilton Bulldogs. - Montreal Gazette
Nashville Predators: Josef Vasicek is sidelined indefinitely with back spasms. Vasicek will be re-examined today. He missed eight games earlier this season with a hip flexor injury. - Nashville City Paper
New York Rangers: Rangers forward Jed Ortmeyer has been cleared to return to noncontact practice, his first action since doctors discovered a pulmonary embolism in August. - New York Times
Ottawa Senators: Ray Emery will make his 5th straight start. Brian McGrattan is in . Bryan Murray hasn't said who will be healthy scratch tonight. - TSN
Phoenix Coyotes: Mike Ricci, who has been rehabbing a neck injury since June, is going to play in his first game tonight. Coyotes captain Shane Doan, who has missed nine of the team?s past 10 games because of a sore back but was able to practice on Tuesday, will play tonight at home against the New Jersey Devils. - Arizona Republic
Washington Capitals: : RW Chris Clark, C Dainius Zubrus and D Steve Eminger - each of whom missed Saturday's game in Boston because of injuries - practiced yesterday and are expected to return to the lineup tonight against Atlanta - Washington Post
