An Idea for a Pre-Game Mixer Thread

This thread, I think could serve 2 purposes:
1. Channel some tension for us to joke, have fun and have general merriment mixed (hence "Mixer") with our concerns, worries, etc. about the upcoming game. It could include any last minute rumors too, so that all rumors stay off the GDT.
2. Would keep all unnecessary posts as mentioned above off of the GDT, which needs to be dedicated to the match-up and our individual "Go Ducks" posts as well as helping those of us not able to see the game, keep up with what's happening through the great posts that go on during the game.
The Mixer might detract from the GDT. That is my one big concern. So, I would like to asks the Mods if this is something that can be of benefit or not.
What do you think?

By the way, the Forsberg deal to Anaheim could never be approved. The 250 Butterball Turkeys that were to be included will not waive their no-trade clause.

It would be nice but without something to actually speculate about, it may not be near as entertaining as yesterday was.

Stop it SoCal you made me spit up my coffee!!! LOL!!!!!
Seriously, though I find that there is always some kind of something that we can key into on a game day. The weather, the last time we saw Parros score, who has the next big milestone -- that kinda thing.
I know that last night was probably world's colliding, but it was too much fun not to try for in some way.

This sounds like a great idea as long as socal's 250 Butterball turkeys also agree.
You should get first dibs on being the assigned "whack-a-mole" threader so people can gather pre-game to talk about all things related to game night instead of interrupting the play-by-play flow of the GDTs. Even the NHL radio and TVU channel laments can go in the mixer so it'll be easier to find the information on where to listen or watch the game.
Or maybe you just want the first AD member who's available to start the thread for the day with a pre-game topic.
Hash it out with the others and have some fun ... just remember to behave yourselves!

the biggest issue i see is that what happened yesterday was spontaneous, that's what made it great... you can not force the spontaneous reaction that happened yesterday.. spontaneity can not be planned.
but i'll probably post if there is such a thread...
it will at least be interesting to hear if other people have pre-game rituals like i do:
I must listen to, in order:
Butterflies & Hurricanes - Muse
Bro Hymn Tribute - pennywise
Orion - Metallica
10,000 Fists - Disturbed
before the am830 pregame show starts... this takes 32 minutes so i start at 5:58 for home games... tonight it will start at 4:58
then i usually listen to Muse ad Pennywise again just before th national anthem, so i miss the last 10 minutes of pregame.... usually start at 6:55(5:50 today)
strange i know, but this all started last post season and considering that run, i simply added Muse to the mix this year

DTP, since you are a Mod, do I have the Mod-al blessing then? I can start the thread every morning, So Calif time, no problem. I can't have my first cuppa without checking in here first!

Not sure that this required a blessing in the first place, but it sounds like people are interested. Some days will have more energy than others, but if your morning mixer topic is good, I'm sure the spontaneity will flow. We have good members here that have a lot to contribute.

Tlhanks! I will give it a try starting with the the Devils on Friday. Should be interesting to see what happens. I think we can at least try it for a bit to see if it catches on.

I'm superstitious and avoid all pre=game threads. And don't taunt me about Peter the gorgeous. There aren't enough buckets for the drool that would come out of me if we got that Swedish hunk on our team. My husband would stop allowing me to go to Ducks games alone. Chaos. Anarchy. Better he stay on the east coast so I can behave myself.
DTP has mountains of buckets and mops, he can handle it! Why don't you start a post-game mixer! We can cover both ends of the night? Of course, you might get alot of "zzzzzzzzz' from the west coast, but he Euro's would be up and ready to party!

A pre-game AND a post-game.
DTP, work on that cloning thing.
Lord knows I make a bigger mess with the mop and bucket than when I started.

Maybe you can just jump into a pool and imitate what he does best: dive. I, for one hope he never becomes a Duck
