Atlanta Thrashers: Defenceman Garnet Exelby, who has mononucleosis, is doing "much better" according to recent blood tests but that still is not able to be around the team. He has been out about three weeks. Defenceman Andy Sutton (cracked ankle bone) still has too much swelling to issue a timetable for his return. Sutton was injured on Monday. - Atlanta Journal Constitution

Carolina Hurricanes: Coach Peter Laviolette said centre Cory Stillman will return to action on their upcoming road trip, barring an unexpected setback. He was cleared to resume contact skating last week. "It's possible I'll play by the end of the road trip," an optimistic Stillman confirmed. The Canes visit Calgary on Tuesday before traveling to Edmonton on Wednesday, Vancouver on Friday and Colorado on Dec. 11. - Raleigh News Observer

Colorado Avalanche: Goaltender Jose Theodore left Saturday night's game against the Vancouver Canucks due to a hip injury. Theodore finished the first period, but Peter Budaj came out to start the second. Jordan Leopold played his first game since returning from Hernia surgery, and Patrice Brisebois was a healthy scratch. - Denver Post/Rocky Mountain News

Dallas Stars: Brenden Morrow remains sidelined with a groin injury. He will not practice Sunday, and he did not skate Saturday either. "It will take a miracle for me to play Monday," Morrow said. "I hope to be back at some point (this) week." - Dallas Morning News

Florida Panthers: Centre Joe Nieuwendyk sat out Saturday with back spasms. - Dallas Morning News

Washington Capitals: Danius Zubrus missed Saturday's game due to the flu. It was the second straight game he missed due to the ailment. Richard Zednik left Saturday's game with a groin injury. Zednik tweaked his groin in the second period and did not return. - Washington Times

Toronto Maple Leafs: Darcy Tucker did not participate in today's Maple Leafs skills competition. He had a lacerated elbow that required stitches today. The injury reportedly happened 10 days ago against Boston. Tucker is not expected to miss any time and is slated to practice with the team on Monday. - TSN
