Link to Dallas Morning News Article from June 23rd.
To read that article, use the e-mail address allducks@allducks.com and the password allducks.
This is just yet another sign that things don't look good when it comes to the likelihood that a work stoppage will be avoided.

Quote from Tom Hicks, owner of the Dallas Stars.....
"Ticket prices are too high and the players have gotten way too much money. That has to change," said Hicks, who notes that his team is among the top three in terms of revenues but still loses money.
Hicks, who undertook a cost-cutting plan with the Texas Rangers baseball team, has already promised that his team's payroll will shrink next season. He points to the Stanley Cup final which featured the Tampa Bay Lightning and Calgary Flames as proof that money doesn't buy a championship.
"I think the (New York) Rangers have proved that," said Hicks. "If you look at the Stanley Cup Finals, it was not about payroll, it was about players. We're going in a direction that will give us better, younger, more aggressive players."
.............................
My response, Isn't he the moron who signed A-Rod to one of sports most ridiculous salaries EVER? Oh, and gee, isn't HE the same guy who signed Billy Guerin and Pierre" don't call me old" Turgeon to long and extremely expensive salaries? Yeah, let's act all innocent and blame just the players. What a maroon!!

I don't know A-Rod's salary off the top of my head, but he has enough money to equal several team's salaries. Heck. If he really wanted to, he could probably buy the Ducks!

I'm not 100% sure, because I don't follow baseball, but wasn't A-Rod's salary something like $150 million???

A-Rod got a 10-year, $250 million contract. He could buy any NHL team other than Montreal, the NY Rangers and/or Toronto.
