It was brought up tonight in the game thread against ATL. Is it just me or does it really suck refreshing the page every other second. Just thought I'd bring up the suggestion of a chat room.

all in favor, let yourself be heard!

Refreshing can be inconvenient, but I like having the record of what was said in the thread

I used to use a chatroom for another board and we always saved the chat and posted it the next day for everyone to see. I assume that is possible still? It's just a matter of cut and paste and of course someone willing to do it.

I would be all for the chat. I would like to be able to see it after words as well. If that is all possible I say lets go for it!

We could put a chatbox on the bottom of the forum. I have the code if MT wants it. Just one problem is that anyone can pretend to be someone else and say something to get them in trouble.

I'd hope that nobody on this site would be immature enough to do that

I don't know . . . Haven't never liked chats . . . It's too 'flat'. You are not able to post any decent smiley and there are no avatars and sigs to immediately distinguish how is saying what. Other than that I would miss the 'quotes' and things like the pictures, ecc.

We could put a chatroom that registers off the database of the forums so you would have to login with the same information however it is very expensive to do so.

I was talking about the official Invision Power Board Chat program which can run $500 a year.

I never use chat rooms so I wouldn't be fussed about adding one to the board. Though i would be concerned that it would mean the Boss would have to pay extra especially as when we had one before it was hardly used.

the official one is simply not worth it, not when flash chat allows avatars, smilies, etc...

i have never used it with invision, just phpbb but it's sweet... can't imagine th install is much different

if there is a server cost issue, let me know.

give me a list of specs and the current price and i can see if that works, i have space on a couple servers i could use.
