I think maybe the Chat room will be used most during game time so the obnoxious refreshing is avoided. Otherwise, if people on the board want to chat with other people on the board they can PM them and say "hey want to chat at noon?" (just an example).

It would have been super back when the new uni's came out to have chatted with everyone live. Those kinds of events would probably be worth live chatting about!

I, for one, will be happy the next time I am without a visual of the game to be in the Chat room hoping that someone who is viewing the game is there and is giving details.... smile.gif

I also went in once to see what it looked like and it told me that two board members had just left at the same time I came on. I think maybe it doesn't mean they exited as you came in. I think it tells you who was last on and just repeats the time that you come onto the room. That's just a guess.

Do let us know if the bandwidth needs to be bumped up and the hosting costs increase.

MT, thanks so much for listening and providing members with various means to share their enthusiasm for this amazing Anaheim Ducks team! worshippy.gif

i assume that the flash app is going to take less bandwidth than 30 people refreshing an entire page of avatars and smilies every 3 seconds for 3 hours on game nights...

i could be wrong though

Not so much additional bandwidth just for the chat, but for additional members that the chat room and GDT will attract if/when these Ducks continue to tear their way through this season. ana-ban.gif

All I'll be caring about is if I can be interacting in chat and listening to nhl.com without interruption of the game. That is why I usually don't post in the GDT. If I do attempt to post then nhl.com gets intermittent on me, cutting in and out. That frustrates me so I end up just listening and not posting.

This is what I made my chatroom to look like. Apparently, you can make the chat look however you want it. No uniform design could lead to some problems....
