From TSN.ca

After 10 seasons with the Ottawa Senators, Radek Bonk's days with the only NHL club he ever played for are over.

Senators general manager John Muckler parted ways with the veteran centre, trading him to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for the 77th overall pick in the NHL Draft.

The Kings then flipped Bonk and goaltender Cristobal Huet to the Montreal Canadiens for goaltender Mathieu Garon and a third round pick.

Bonk can become a restricted free agent July 1, and requires a $3.5-million US qualifying offer to retain his rights.

Garon should be the Kings number one goalie over “Sketch”-monick.

GArron is a great young goalie and is someting the Kings havent had ever? Hopefully he keeps on developing in a strong starter and the way things are looking he will get plenty of starting time here in LA with Roman sucking ass most the time. I like this trade Huet and a third for Garon and a third. Not bad!!!

bonk was only in the deal because that was how the kings got the habs to trade garon, the wouldnt take huet and the 3rd, so the kings traded that 3rd for bonk and sent bonk with huet. bonk was never going to be a king, just a bargining chip. simliar situation with messier and cujo last year, how messier was traded on june 30th so that the rangers would get something if he didnt resign with him etc

Um no, actually they traded a 3rd to Ott for Bonk and then traded Bonk and Huet for Garon and a third. So, they lost a 3rd and Huet and gained Garon and a third. See what I was getting at? Sorry it confused you.

Basically, the Kings got Bonk for a steal (just a third round pick). They then paid a high price, Bonk and Huet, for Garon and a third. Interesting.

The Kings needed a goalie, and they got a good one, but with Palffy, Stumpel, Robitaille, Allison and Deadmarsh all about to walk, I think they needed Bonk more.

yes it´s a very good deal for the kings!!!
and we as ducks fans must say if they don´t have so many injuries they can be a top team or they can come into the playoffs behind the ducks!!

Interesting how times have changed. A proven top 2 center gets dumped for a 3rd rounder simply because of salary. Same thing with Lalime today (4th rounder).

i dunno i bet you ducks fans would rather have a 03 playoff esque jiggy over an 90 point fedorov, right? jiggy (or any good goalie) can steal you a game, a skater can only help you win. look at how the last couple SC have been won, defence.

Yeah your probably right but I'm selfish I want Jiggy in playoff form, the defense playing like they did then and Feds going for 90 plus.

Aw, heck! I'm gonna miss Crytal Ball (or as I began calling him, "the Frog" -- not a slur against the French -- he had this habbit during warmups of going into a squat very similar to a frog sitting on a lily pad -- we even started croaking when he did it!).... Oh well, it's been a strange off season for any goalies who picked up the slack for pricey No. 1's this year, hasn't it! blink.gif
