For a fourth round pick... Geez what a freebie. I guess there wanst much market for goaltenders. Makes what we got for Gerber look like gold.

Lalimes not been looking solid, so I guess it was a fair trade. But you now have the question: Where will Osgood go?

Yeah so do you think he is, cause it seams kicking Lalime means there making room for him.

So which goalie will be the next to go, Osgood or Cloutier?

P.S. Ottawa now going for a goalie duo of old skool style masks :tu:

Im really hoping Lalime bounces back next year and has a great season proving his critics in Ottawa wrong, he may have had some bad playoffs but he has had his great moments in the NHL, lets hope he can return to his old form.

It's kind of unfair for him..he had a bad season so what look at Giguere we don't go off and trade him like that and I think they could've gotten more than just a 4th round pick, poor guy I hope he has an amazing season with the blues.

So Lalime will probably be a starter and Osgood a backup, he'll probably go back to the Islanders where he should have stayed.

And Rick Di Pietro will turn the Osgood back-up? I don't think so. Rick is a young goalie and a better one for the future. So if Osgood will be the Islanders back-up, we have the same situation here. Then, he can stay with Lalime, in my opinion. rolleyes.gif
Anyway, I hope all the best for Lalime in St.Louis because is a great goalie, only a bit unlucky. wink.gif biggrin.gif

John Muckler talks about why he made a few player moves this past weekend. The usual stuff.

Also a few words from the reporter in the latter half of the article on other trades, including the Havelid deal.

Lalime will have a great year if the season happens...he needed to get out of Ottawa...now he gets a chance to propel the Blues...I wish him luck.

Lalime for a fourth round pick? That's a steal.

Don't you think Kings management and fans are kicking themselves? While they had Ottawa on the phone, they could have gotten Lalime for just a fourth round pick in 2005. Forget Montreal, they could have gotten Bonk and Lalime for a third and a fourth round pick!

I agree SC the Kings must be kicking themselves...Bonk and Lalime that would have been a coup for them. I'm glad they never got the opportunity.

Lalime for a first round pick? Why didn't the Canucks do this trade?? :**:
Say what you will about Lalime choking, but he would have been better than Cloutier. Arg.

I've said it before and I will say it again: I think Lalime is a great goalie and St. Louis DID get a steal!

I read somewhere that Vancouver was going to make Cloutier a qualifying offer... LA Times on Saturday or Sunday maybe? Anyone else read that?

It sure seems like that but with no new CBA in place this is a very strange off season. Many teams are dumping salary either to lower payroll (Ducks) or to make room for a free agent (Ottawa - Hasek).

Too bad he didn't go to the Avs - I was looking forward to seeing Francaise in a Lalime jersey biggrin.gif
