Sort of like when the Rags traded Leetch to Vancouver or Edmonton or someone like that a few years ago a couple weeks before they re-signed him.

Also, this is a very curious move by the Kings if they do sign him. He's 35, (he turns 36 in October) and if there is indeed a lockout and the season is lost, he'll be 37 at the start of the 2005-2006 season. Is a 37-year old defenseman really what the Kings need? If so, Fredrik Olausson is available.
Finally, the rights to Quintal cost the Kings nothing, but if they do sign him it will cost them a draft pick. That's the "conditional" part of the trade.
"The (Kings) acquired veteran Montreal defenseman Stephane Quintal on Sunday for a conditional pick."

Im not saying anything either way. All I know is that the link says that the Kings are trying to sign him in the next couple days. As far as him being old, I dont really know what to think because Im not familiar with the guy. Chelios is still a decent D-man and there are others. Im not saying he is as good as any they are but old guys can still play. Especially slow tough d-man, and from what I hear thats what he is. A guy willing to drop'em if neccessary. Basically a better defensive version of Brad Norton, but not as good a fighter. Well see.

I would be very surprised if he signed with the Kings before Thursday. Very suprised. That article can say whatever it wants, logic says otherwise. Also, I have yet to hear from Quintal on this and if he intended on signing with the Kings, you'd think he'd say so.
Time will tell, but my money is on Quintal signing elsewhere as a free agent and the Kings getting the compensation pick.
