Thunderbirds captain and one of my favourite players, Aaron Gagnon, was signed to a 3 year contract with the Dallas Stars! I am amazingly happy for him...he is not only a good player, but the all-around package. Hard working, sportsmanlike, great leader...I wish him the best of luck!!

QUOTE
“I am excited about signing with Dallas,” said Gagnon. “Signing a pro contract was a goal of mine coming into this year. I could not have achieved this goal without the help of my teammates, coaching staff and the whole T-Birds organization. Individual success comes through team success.”

Here is what longtime TBirds play by play guy and analyst had to say recently about Aaron
QUOTE
Of course if there is something close to perfection associated with this team, it has to be Aaron Gagnon. And what makes Gagnon what he is, is the fact that he embodies what Sumner was speaking to; even though he is one of the best players in the league, he is always trying to improve his game. Even more so, he’ll never give you less than his best whether it is on the ice during the game or off the ice, riding the bike while recovering from an injury. I can still recall the comments of former T-Birds head coach Dean Chynoweth after a then 15-year-old Gagnon came up for a few games at the tail end of the season five years ago. Chynoweth called Gags a “firecracker” because he went out and played the only way he knew how; with energy and 100% effort. Here we are, five years later, at the end of his stint in the WHL, and Gagnon is still playing with that same 100-miles-an-hour, never-say-die effort.

Love this kid! biggrin.gif He's gonna be like Bridgey...I'll need to keep track of him on his pro journey after he leaves the Birds this year.

Well, Aaron was with the Iowa Stars for the last few weeks through their playoff run, but never saw any ice time. That probably had a lot to do with Dallas' early exit since they returned a bunch of players to Iowa. At least Gags got some practice time with his new team and a leg up for next season!
