TSN's Ice Chips:

QUOTE
Updates for Thursday, February 15, 2007

Across Canada:

The Latest on the Flames Projected lines vs. Avs
The Flames had an optional pre-game skate prior to facing the Avalanche on Thursday... Stephane Yelle is back in the lineup after missing the last game with a right foot injury. He is still wearing a walking cast but will be good to go tonight... Tonight marks the first of three straight games against the Avs... Joe Sakic is two goals away from reaching 600 career goals... Tonight is Avs defenceman Jordan Leopold's first game back at the Pengrowth SaddleDome (acquired by Colorado for Tanguay)... The Avs are currently in 10th spot in the Western Conference - nine points out of 8th place. The series between these two teams (tonight is the first of two straight games between the clubs in Calgary) could make or break their playoff future... The Flames power play is 30% successful in the month of February. - TSN

Forwards
Tanguay - Conroy - Iginla
Huselius - Langkow - Moss
Amonte - Lombardi - Primeau
Friesen - Yelle - Ritchie
Godard a healthy scratch

Defence
Phaneuf - Hamrlik
Regehr - Stuart
Warrener - Giordano
Zyuzin a healthy scratch
Starting Goaltender
Kiprusoff

Around The League:

The Latest from Boston
The Bruins were being close-lipped about Patrice Bergeron's lower-body injury, suffered in the first period against the Oilers. He played in the second period but then left the game and is listed as day to day. Yesterday, Bergeron was walking without apparent pain, though he did not skate at practice at Ristuccia Arena , instead receiving treatment. Glen Murray, who has missed the last two games with a groin pull, remains day to day. - Boston Globe

The Latest from Carolina
Cory Stillman (sprained knee) has not returned to practice, more than a week after he was injured. Erik Cole (hip pointer) remains day-to-day but did not practice Wednesday. - News Observer

The Latest from Colorado
Marek Svatos, who has only two goals since Dec. 1, was a healthy scratch for the first time in his NHL career against the Ducks. It wasn't a complete shock because Svatos had played little after the first period against Dallas on Sunday, when he looked lost in the defensive zone on a Stars goal. Coach Joel Quenneville said no decision would be made until today about whether he would return to the lineup tonight. - Denver Post

The Latest from Dallas
Ladislav Nagy played his first game in a Stars uniform Wednesday and logged just over 20 minutes of ice time and took only two shots but recorded four hits. He skated on a line with Jere Lehtinen and Mike Modano and was a minus 1 in his debut. - Dallas Morning News

The Latest from Detroit
The Red Wings' goaltending situation appears to be returning to normal. Chris Osgood started Wednesday night's game against the Stars, and coach Mike Babcock said Dominik Hasek would start Saturday at Phoenix. - Detroit Free Press

The Latest from Florida
Head Coach Jacques Martin said Tuesday that he doesn't expect forward Todd Bertuzzi to return to the lineup this weekend as had been hoped. Martin said Bertuzzi had a slight setback in his return from back surgery and added that Bertuzzi could be ready to play by next week. - Miami Herald

The Latest from New Jersey
Already missing checking center John Madden with a facial cut and defenseman Colin White with an unspecified upper body injury, the Devils lost top goal-scorer Brian Gionta last night with a groin pull that could put him out of action for a few games. - Newark Star Ledger

The Latest from New York Rangers
Winger Pascal Dupuis will make his Ranger debut tonight against the Hurricanes. He has been out for the past week with a hand injury. - New York Daily News.
Goaltender Kevin Weekes has been placed on injured reserve after suffering a strained quadricept muscle in practice on Tuesday. To replace Weekes on the roster, the Rangers recalled goaltender Stephen Valiquette from Hartford of the American Hockey League. - TSN

The Latest from Philadelphia
Michael Leighton, who was in net for the Flyers' first back-to-back home wins this season, will be in net tonight. Robert Esche, who is just getting back after missing the last four games recovering from neck spasms, will not dress. - Philadelphia Daily News

The Latest from Phoenix
With Shane Doan re-signed, the Coyotes can turn their full attention to the other impending free agents they want to keep. Goalie Mikael Tellqvist and center Mike Zigomanis are close to signing two-year deals. One source said both could be re-signed before the weekend. - Arizona Republic

The Latest from Washington
Defensemen Brian Pothier and John Erskine have been cleared to play and could be in the lineup against the Lightning after each missed significant time with a concussion and broken ankle, respectively. Defenseman Bryan Muir won't make the trip and could miss another week with a broken foot. - Washington Post
