Forward Keith Tkachuk waived his no-trade clause with the St. Louis Blues on Sunday and has been dealt to the Atlanta Thrashers.

In exchange, the Thrashers gave up a first-round pick and a third-round pick in the 2007 Entry Draft, a second-round pick in 2008 and centre Glen Metropolit.

Both teams were in a holding pattern while Tkachuk and his family decided. "I found out late last night, but with three children I needed some time because it's tough anytime a family is involved," Tkachuk told TSN on Sunday.

"But from a hockey standpoint, there was never any doubt, it's a no brainer."

According to Sportsnet, Blues are getting 1st 07, 2nd 08, 3rd 07, Metropolit and conditional 1st 08 (If Atlanta resigns Tkachuk) . I wonder what's the price on Guerin as he should be more expensive .

Yeah, it's getting more and more expensive and ridiculous. Teams are sinking their future for a one-shot at the Cup. I'd rather have less expensive players and have a team that can compete for 3 or 4 years.

I'm glad the Thrashers got him rather than us, but that is an overpayment even considering that this years draft is weak.

BTW, I just read about the conditional 1st next year. That's insane!

Atlanta gave up 3 high picks and a top-6 forward (IIRC, Glen was playing in the top 6), and a 1st if they keep Keith.

Anaheim got Pronger for 4 seasons and gave up Lupul, Smid, a first and a conditional first.

Did I forget someone or did Atlanta just pay more for Tkachuk than the Ducks did for Pronger?
