The league is currently testing distribution of its cable and satellite NHL Center Ice out-of-market game package on the Web, and it could make it available to any hockey fan with a high-speed-Internet connection before the end of the season, according to Keith Ritter, president of NHL Interactive Cyber Enterprises.

That sounds great!!!!!!!!!
But would the quality be good or would it look like it did on TVU?

I would assume it would be as good as the yahoo feed, which by the way is better quality than KDOC!

If they're going to require people to pay for it, it'd better be great quality. If the NHL makes this happen they will make a huge profit.

They also need to give TV Center Ice subscribers a code that can be used when on the road so we can watch the games online wink.gif

About TIME!!! TVU worked great until NHL threatened with legal action.... crybaby.gif

Streamtv worked pretty good for a while, then they decide to go with that new pay service which doesn't work... mad.gif

Hopefully the quality will be high and so I can watch Ducks hockey again!!

I wonder how the pricing structure will work. Will Center Ice subscribers get the online content for free, or will the online content be a completely separate product? I pay for MLB.TV to watch baseball games on the Internet, but it is a completely separate product from MLB Extra Innings (baseball equivalent of Center Ice). The NHL is wise to embrace online media. The revenue MLB is gaining from online media is tremendous.

I agree, it is about time. They made good progress for exposure with google video showing full games and youtube.com/nhl but this, this is what they should have done from the beginning. If the quality is good (there is no point even testing it if its not) it will be awesome!!!

I wonder if that's the discounted rate for the remainder of this season, or that's the cost of a full season. For that price I could go to 3 or 4 games with my wife. Also, local games are blacked out.
