Nashville and Detroit are going to be beating up on each other this week, that in itself will be much more interesting than these games on the 12th. But if I had to care about any outcome it would have to be St Louis over Calgary. Can't be letting Calgary get too pumped up at this point in the season.

TSN's Ice Chips:
Woo hoo for Fedorov playing defense.
QUOTE
Updates for Monday, March 12
Across Canada:
The Latest on the Flames
Craig Conroy and Rhett Warrener didn't skate on Monday morning. Conroy is probably out but will be a game time decision against St. Louis. With Conroy not skating, Matthew Lombardi moved to the top line between Alex Tanguay and Jarome Iginla. The Flames wouldn't confirm Conroy's status for Monday night, but he's doubtful. Lombardi was benched in the middle frame of the last game against St. Louis and was a healthy scratch the following game in Nashville. Lombardi has been held pointless in his last four games. - TSN
Forwards

The Latest on the Canadiens
Forward Alex Kovalev missed practice on Monday with the flu, and Alexander Perezhogin is still suffering concussion-like-symptoms. David Aebischer will get the call in goal for the Canadiens against the New York Islanders on Tuesday, and head coach Guy Carbonneau plans to stick with him through season's end. Josh Gorges will likely be in the lineup, making his home debut at the Bell Centre. Cristobal Huet (hamstring) is expected to skate before his teammates on Tuesday morning. - TSN/RDS

The Latest on the Senators
Defenceman Anton Volchenkov was wearing a full wire cage Monday morning as a result of suffering a broken nose in Saturday night's game against the Leafs. While these were the lines in practice, don't expect them to be that way on Tuesday. Christoph Schubert will likely play on the fourth line. Where the others fit - namely Patrick Eaves and Oleg Saprykin - will be determined Tuesday. Stats FYI: Ray Emery is 2-1-0 vs. the Rangers this season with a 2.01 GAA and one shutout SO, Daniel Alfredsson has 16 goals and 29 assists in 40 career games against New York, while Dany Heatley has 12 goals and 26 points in 18 career games. - TSN

Forward Mike Peca skated for about 15 minutes before practice. He says building strength in his knee and leg is the main issue he's facing. He's been able to ride a stationary bike for 6 weeks so he's kept his fitness level high. He has no estimate for his return date. Yanic Perreault practised with the team after being scratched Saturday with a suspected shoulder injury. He says he feels well enough to play Tuesday against Tampa. - TSN

Centre Sergei Fedorov spent the final two periods of Saturday's game against Nashville playing defence. "There was no conversation," coach Ken Hitchcock said. "We were down a defenceman, and we changed up our roster during the (first) intermission. I felt it was something we needed to do to keep us in the game. Not only did Sergei not hurt us back there, he helped us." The switch was made after Anders Eriksson suffered a strained back when he was checked by Nashville's Darcy Hordichuk midway through the first period. - Columbus Dispatch

Maybe he can play goalie on Wednesday
Did somebody say goalie?
JK. I like the Ducks' chances with Feds in goal. 'Course, it won't matter unless the Ducks show up.
