TSN's Ice Chips:
QUOTE
Updates for Friday, March 16
Across Canada:
The Latest on the Maple Leafs
As he continues to recover from a fractured leg, Michael Peca said he may have jumped the gun a bit when he claimed a couple of months ago that he would be back before the end of the regular season. "I was speaking without knowing the full extent of the situation," he said. "If I had it my way, which, fortunately, I didn't, I would have pushed too much to get back and probably ended up taking a step back." - Toronto Sun
The Latest on the Canucks
Nathan Smith, who filled in for him Tommi Santala Tuesday night versus Minnesota, was returned to the Manitoba Moose. - Vancouver Sun
The Latest on the Oilers
Ladislav Smid skated off with some shoulder trouble after jostling with J.F. Jacques late in practice. "I hurt it, but I think it's going to be OK," said Smid, who's been having trouble with the shoulder all year. - Edmonton Sun

It worked so well Wednesday that Sergei Fedorov once again will play most of the game on defence Thursday in San Jose. Head coach Ken Hitchcock hinted Thursday that Fedorov likely will stay there the rest of the season.
Goaltender Brian Boucher will get the start Saturday in Los Angeles.

Brendan Shanahan participated in the entire practice for a second straight day on Thursday. He then went through some post-practice timed skating drills with assistant coach Perry Pearn. The Penguins are looking scary good heading into the playoffs. Wouldn't want to run into them anytime soon. Most likely the playoff proven teams will come out ahead but anythings possible.
