TSN's Ice Chips:

QUOTE
Updates for Sunday, March 18

Across Canada:

The Latest on the Flames
Defenceman Andrei Zyuzin was injured at the end of the first period on Saturday and did not return. Zyuzin was hit into the boards by Minnesota's Stephane Veilleux. - Calgary Sun

The Latest on the Maple Leafs
The Maple Leafs are targeting Friday's contest against Buffalo for Tomas Kaberle's return to the lineup. There is a slight possibility he could return to action Tuesday against New Jersey, but it is a longshot at this point. Kaberle has been out of action since March 2nd with post concussion symptoms. - Toronto Sun

The Latest on the Senators
There are no changes to the Senatos lineup for the fourth straight game as they get set to face Pittsburgh on Sunday. Ray Emery will get the start in goal. - TSN

Forwards
Heatley - Spezza - Eaves
Schaefer - Fisher - Alfredsson
Vermette - Kelly - Neil
Schubert - McAmmond - Comrie/
Scratches: McGrattan, Saprykin
Defence
Redden - Meszaros
Volchenkov - Phillips
Corvo - Priessing
Scratch: Nycholat
Goaltender
Emery

Around The League:

The Latest from Atlanta
Kari Lehtonen will likely get the start in Sunday afternoon's showdown against Buffalo. Johan Hedberg played brilliantly on Friday but Lehtonen is expected to be between the pipes against the Sabres. - Atlanta Journal Constitution

The Latest from Boston
Glen Murray, who missed his fifth consecutive game with a severe groin muscle strain, will likely miss the rest of the regular season. He'll only return to action in the event the Bruins somehow make the playoffs. - Boston Herald
P.J. Axelsson, who broke his hand three weeks ago, will likely need another three weeks of healing time before he can return to action. He will not be ready to re-join the Boston lineup until early Arpil. - Boston Herald

The Latest from Columbus
Rostislav Klesla was injured in the first period of Saturday's game and did not return. Klesla was injured when he was hit into the boards by the Kings' Dustin Brown and suffered a hip pointer. - Columbus Post-Dispatch

The Latest from New York Islanders
Islander coach Ted Nolan is hoping that Rick DiPietro will be able to return to action for Tuesday's game against Tampa. The Isles are denying that DiPietro sustained a concussion when he collided with Montreal's Steve Begin last Tuesday, however the facts seem to indicate otherwise. That said, DiPietro is recovering and is hopeful of playing next week. - New York Newsday

The Latest from New York Rangers
Martin Straka left Saturday night's game against the Bruins in the first period with a hyperextended right knee. He sustained the injury after getting caught in Boston defenceman Andrew Ferrence's skate and did not return. Straka will be evaluated today and will likely miss a few games. - New York Daily News

The Latest from Pittsburgh
Eric Cairns, who has been skating the past few days, is still awaiting medical clearance to join his Penguin teammates at practice. He is recovering from a concussion he sustained the third week in November. - Pittsburgh Post Gazette

The Latest from Washington
Ben Clymer is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Tampa due to an undisclosed injury. He practiced with the team Saturday but still may sit out the contest against the Lightning. - Washington Post
Brian Sutherby will be out of the Capitals' lineup for the next 7-10 days with a hand injury. He sustained compartment syndrome after being struck with a puck near his right thumb during Friday's game against Toronto. - Washington Post

And one more added to increase the "lit up's" woes ... as if Semin's natural hat trick wasn't enough ...

During the Buffalo/Atlanta intermission, they showed behind-the-scenes footage from the All-Star game ads. It was even funnier than the commercials themselves, and you could tell that the players had a lot of fun participating.

hmm.gif If Colorado loses today (OT or regulation) and the Ducks win, we will have clinched a playoff spot. OTOH, I think I'd rather have the Avs defeat the Sharks to keep SJ from getting higher up the standings and have us clinch another day. Thoughts?

No doubt. It's not in question whether or not the Ducks go to the playoffs; it matters more to me that Colorado wins and keeps SJ down. Colorado all of a sudden went from 12 out to 6 out, so they have plenty of incentive. On the other hand, the Ducks need to keep taking care of business and, as long as they do, nothing else matters wink.gif

SJ loses in OT but gets a point; Dallas wins in OT and gets both points. Ducks don't show up and lose dry.gif

1. Ducks 98
2. SJ 92
3. Dallas 91

Now let's see how we do on the road dry.gif

Unlike the Ducks, the Caps and Avs showed up to play and are represented in the NHL's Three Stars tonight. Semin had a hat trick for the Caps and his teammate Fleischmann (and fellow redhead) both got stars. Sakic got the 3rd star. See here for the glorious pictures.
