Well I thought we could all use some good thoughts, so I thought we could share some of our favorite moments from our own personal hockey experiences.

Well for me my favorite moments are against the same goalie. Just to set the tone, this is from when I played roller hockey during Jr. High and High School, in a small city run league. Anyways this goalie and I did not get along at all, at he is responsible for my only concussion the previous season when I went to wrap around the net and he tripped me up and I landed on my head.

So this game was tied 2-2 and went to OT then shootouts, I was the first one up, so I went to center ice did a quick stretch, and

So the next 2 skaters go and their last skater ties it up, we end up going through the entire roster, so it comes back to me. I skate back to center ice the exact same way I did the first time, did the same quick stretch. The ref blew the whistle so I skated in on the exact same way only this time I took the snap shot without the fake, and found the back of the net under his stick side elbow. That ended up being my third goal of the night and the game winner.

That is my favorite memory, but not my best shot. Coincidentally my best shot is against the same goalie, I was standing on the goal line down low on a PP. There was no pass option so I took the shot and and snuck the puck in the short side between the post and the goalie shoulder, and it came dribbling back out between his legs.

Ok so let's here your favorite hockey memories.

I think this is a great idea. Hope no one minds me bringing this back from the dead.

My favorite moment in hockey was during the final hockey game of my intramural team, when we were kicked out of the playoffs.

We were down 1-2 just before the end of the second period. My wrist was broken and was incredibly painful to play with (I'm an idiot). I was on the right wing, but one of our defenders moved up onto the right boards with the puck so I dropped back to cover his position. A couple seconds later, he lost the puck and it squirted out to the top of the right circle. I squeezed the opponent, and managed to get the puck loose again, which I immediately passed to the winger who one-timed it into the net. Beautiful play and it made it all the more sweet that I was playing with a bad wrist.

Unfortunately, we gave up 4 unanswered goals in the third so we lost.

Hope to hear everyone else's, whether they're saves, plays, hits or goals! biggrin.gif

Played at the Pond one night after the Ducks and Sens game (1st meeting after 2007 SCF). Pressured the point on a faceoff, stole the puck as both defenders bumped into each other and fell. Went from my blueline in on a break away. Just missed on the initial shot, but picked up the rebound on the backhand as I crossed the goal line and jammed it over the top of the goalie's left leg pad. Puck landed on its side on the goal line and flopped on its side and in.

Wait... you got to play at the Ponda Center?! How much does that cost?

It's more of a group-ticket sales thing. I believe my rep was Matt Payne (there's two Payne brothers with the team and I get them mixed up sometimes when I haven't had my morning coffee yet). Basically, you sell/buy a certain amount of tickets and you can play following a Ducks game.

IIRC, for my team, it worked out to something like 5 tickets per player. You may have to find a team to play against or they may have a list of teams interested. I think the whole thing cost me like $100 - not inexpensive, but well worth it in my book.

I think it's a similar setup at Staples, so I would infer that it may not be uncommon across the NHL.

Either way, it's pretty cool to play in the rink where your NHL team plays. In fact, right before my goal, we had a faceoff to the right of our goalie and I remember thinking to myself: "Dang (OK, it wasn't 'dang' but close), I'm standing right where Getzlaf pounced on Giguere when they won the Cup!" The other team won the draw back to the right point (the guy I was supposed to be covering while I was reminiscing) and got a great scoring chance. Goalie made the save. I chastised myself. Faceoff same spot and that's when I stole the puck for the goal.
