This topic is for me and Jason, mostly! The ECHL playoffs have begun and our teams are meeting up in the first round. I see that Fitzy will be playing for the Aces, while Bridgey will most likely be backing up Ellis.
The Salmon Kings stunned the Aces by winning the opener in Alaska breaking a 21 game unbeaten streak at home. The Aces have been at the top of the league all year, while the Kings barely squeaked into the playoffs. So it's a real underdog sceanario.

The Salmon Kings are on a huge winning streak while Alaska kind of stumbled at the end of the season a bit...Alaska better take Victoria seriously or the upset bid may actually happen....Aces need to show some character now. We'll see.
I'd also expect a much better performance by the Aces tonight...clearly because it is my Birthday!!!

I'm sure the Aces will be flying tonight, they won't take kindly to be handed a loss in their own building by upstarts like Victoria! The fish certainly picked a good time to get hot, as they were dismal all year!
Happy Birthday!
You goin' to make any of the games?

At this point probably not but maybe later in the playoffs as the winter dies off here...it is getting to be Spring and as soon as that is 100% and as soon as my Dodge Caravan is checked then I will chance a trip to Anchorage for a game. The Aces did get a huge dose of revenge with a 7-1 rout of Victoria....Aces give me a very nice B-day present. Thank you Amanda I had a pretty nice B-day. or I should say B-day evening. Work was a bit tedious the second time round when I worked the second part of my split shift. But Shinar surprised me with some friends at my place. That sure made my night.

Well, at least Fitzy got a goal in the Alaska win, and Bridgey got to see some playoff minutes after the Aces chased Ellis out of Victoria's net. I'm fully expecting Alaska to win this series, but I'm at least hoping Victoria can not be embarassed too badly!
Glad you had a good birthday! Must still be pretty snowy up your way!

Ack...well, I knew the Fish had an uphill battle. Do you have a recap you can link?
The days must be getting longer up there too...that's gotta be nice. I've only been to Alaska during the summer and the days went on forever!

After posting two straight losses (including a 7-1 shellacking), Canucks goaltending prospect Julien Ellis is benched and Bridgey gets the nod for games four and five. Victoria lost game four by a 2-5 score but then came back strong in game five with a 9-4 win. Bridgey's first pro playoff win! The Aces still have the S. Kings on the ropes three games to two, but Victoria forces game six.

Yes I actually got to watch most of Game 5 and the Aces just handed that game away...it was 4-0 before the Aces got a goal and it was 7-4 after two periods....I guess the Aces want to close it out on home ice hopefully. It was pretty cool to see Bridges in net.
Well Victoria it was nice seeing you but the Aces have another series to deal with. Let's keep it rolling!!!

Congrats to the Aces...I consider Victoria lucky to have gotten those two games. Who do you play next?
