Did anyone catch the name of this kid? biggrin.gif Last name is Fukufuji. I'm sorry, but that would be just wrong to throw this guy in amongst the Kings fans with a name like that!!! He better hope they trade him to a team a little less ruthless with player names.. innocent.gif

blink.gif Hmmm, do they think he'll be the Hideo Nomo of hockey? I'm sure he'd bring in a good Japanese fan-base....however it would be fun to score against him as a Mighty Duck....I'm sure in Anaheim we'd give him a warm welcome. :melrose: :melrose: :melrose:

He will probably be playing for the Reading Royals. He was drafted by the Kings because one of their scouts is the head coach of the team Fukufuji plays for in Japan. And yes, everyone is loving his name.

I thought he was gonna play for the NHL, if he did it would have been weird though.

I saw this kid play at Worlds. Gave a terrible "assist" to Daniel Alfredsson from behind his goal and Alfie netted his 2nd goal in his beginning game at Worlds.

Also this Japanese kid witnessed his own defenceman scoring the crucial goal in game with Denmark that crushed Japanese dreams of surviving in Pool A. :bye:

Not too much impressed with his performance! :td:

A good guy for Kings... clap.gif

I really do not expect him to play in NHL, not even Kings...

But after 2nd thoght ... they gave Huet a chance! And Huet was the weaker one from the French goalies at the Worlds. :but:

I watched the Fuj during quite a few ECHL appearances with the Condors last season. He is really enjoyable to watch and was good for the Condors until an injury sidelined him during the final games. The Kings could do worse, but I like the kid smile.gif

He was at the rookie tournament last year. Small guy, even with the goalie padding. Not terribly impressive, but not awful, either. The name is memorable, though!

Fukufuji signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Los Angeles Kings earlier this month. The 22-year-old will attend a Kings' rookie camp next month. If he doesn't make it with the Kings, he'll likely be assigned to L.A.'s AHL farm team, the Manchester Monarchs.

"My goal is to play in the NHL," Fukufuji told a news conference Thursday. "I know it will be tough but I'm ready for rookie camp and I'm looking forward to taking on my rivals."
