STOP THE PRESSES!!!! He's not resigned yet!!!!!!!!!!!!
DETROIT SPORTS REPORT/DETROIT NEWS: both report Red Wings GM Ken Holland denies yesterday's reports that Brendan Shanahan had re-signed with the club. Holland admitted they're close to a deal but the Wings GM said yesterday's radio reports of a deal were "premature", pointing out that Shanahan's agent, Rick Curran, is presently on vacation and both sides still have "some work to do". Both sides are working on what's believed to be a two-year deal worth between $7-$8 million. In other Wings news, Holland says he's still negotiating with Chris Chelios, plans to continue negotiating with Pavel Datsyuk following arbitration hearings set for August 1-15, and hasn't yet held contract talks with team captain Steve Yzerman, but says Yzerman has confirmed his desire to return next season.
DETROIT FREE PRESS: also reported Shanahan is not yet re-signed but is believed to have been offered a two-year deal worth $3.5 million each. The paper also claims Chelios has agreed to a one-year deal with a base salary of $2.5 million, but there are details to still be worked out before it's made official.

Everyone can breathe now...Shanny is signed and the world hasn't ended yet...good signing for Detroit...I think he's a great player would have liked him here in Anaheim to kinda kick the butts of some of the younger players but he stayed where he knows he fits....
