the interference change seems to me to be in response to complaints about the ducks style

I've kinda lost interest in the game when they changed the rules at the start of the 2005-2006 season. Call me crazy but I prefer the rules back then, then how it is now. Sure there were a lot of hooking, grabbing and whatnot but it kinda made the game a bit more exciting. Like I prefer Triple OT's than the Shootouts nonetheless. Wouldn't you want like more shutouts for the goalies and scores to be 2-0 or 1-0?

Rule 56 -- Interference. Referees were given discretion to assess a major penalty and a game misconduct when an injury results from an act of interference. Previously, only a minor penalty could be assessed for interference.
how does that go against the Ducks style?
these are minor tweaks none of them will really effect the game like the 05-06 changes..cept the penalty shot rule but there are seldom breakaways in the defensive and neutral zones. so..

I'm actually a fan of that rule. I think it stops players from intentionally shooting it over the glass just to get a line change. The one rule I am most puzzled about is the faceoff rule... It's gotta come from a faceoff dot now? How lame is that... Now if it goes out of play just inside the blueline, either one team is going to be pissed because it came back outside the blueline or the other team is going to be pissed because it went to the faceoff dot deep in their zone. The only advantage to this rule is that it's probably easier on the refs to determine locations... but that's about all.

They should have made that rule like the icing rule where you get no line change, and it's a face-off in your defensive zone. A penalty is too severe.

How so? Hooking and grabbing slowed down the game and neutralized skilled players. Teemu said the rule changes/enforcement of interference rules helped players like him.
