I came across this picture of Patrick Kane (I keep having the urge to call him Big Daddy Kane) at his press conference. It made me wonder, out loud no less, why do all these young NHL stars continue to choose such high numbers? From Sid the Kid on down. I know that the greatest hockey player ever wore 99, but it just seems weird to see such an odd amount of high numbers. Any ideas?

For Kane and Crosby it is the year they were born.

It's really depressing when these kids being drafted are about the same age as my oldest. I don't like the fact that I am old enough to be their mother.

I'm only like 6 years older then these people and it's making ME feel old.

Yes, I remember when most of the players were older than me and I'd look up to them... now I'm older than maybe half the team, just reminds me that we're not getting any younger.

I agree, and I don't like. I'm older than this years draft class and about a month older than Crosby. What have I done, been stuck in school. What has he done, simply led the league in scoring in only his second season.

Haha, I'm a year younger and it makes me feel old. It's like I should have done something with my hockey career by now!

I'm at the age where hockey players are contemplating RETIREMENT. That's a shocker because my career just began to take off....
