Sources tell TSN that for the 2007-08 season, the salary cap will rise to a maximum of $50.3-million. That is a $6-million increase from this past season when the cap was set at $44-million.

We have the space to bring the exact Championship team back for next season... Stay Scotty and Teemu!
This is great news if they want to stay.

Burke's budget will be 10-15% below that, so around $42M...
This is really an opportunity to create a fantastic team... If Scotty and Teemu realize what is at hand, the pieces are set for a repeat.
And I'm really thinking they are both going to return.

Just because the cap is going to raise...The Ducks budget is set at $42-44 million, much the same as it was last year.

Lots of teams are already pushing the new cap lol. NJ comes to mind.

Not good, the cap went up way too fast for most teams due to individual team budgets. Soon, hardly any team's going to be able to spend up to Cap limits and the league will go back to the days of just having 5-6 teams winning the Cup every year.

The cap not only went up, the floor went up too.
Now each team has to have at least a payroll of 34.3M USD.

I hope the "dynasty days" don't come back. I like the tight-budget, competitive NHL we have right now, where any team can come out and win, except the Kings. Because they suck.

I doubt money can buy a championship. It's not going to happen (see the Yankees in baseball).
The Kings get rich off Staples Center revenue and still they can't do squat.

Hey, I understand it's pro sports and it's a follow the money game, but isn't that the problem all over again? And, by the way, where is all this money coming from?
If the league was in such dire straits that if felt both the need (and the obligation as some said back then) to shut down for an entire season in order to regain fiscal sanity, well, where is it?
