I'm kinda surprised at this. I thought the Ducks would sign him to a new contract but oh well.
Good luck to him, he will help the Bruins..
I didn't think he would get resigned by Anaheim. I wish him the best of luck with Boston. He was a wicked friendly and funny guy. Hopefully he will be able to get some more playing time in the Bruins system.

I liked Shawn. Good luck to him in Boston and we'll see him in October for the banner-raising ceremony.
Maybe, but I think he may see more time in Providence than Anaheim.
They need to do some serious roster shuffling.

I was hoping the Bruins would go after a good goal scorer to play on the left side.. We need one of those!
Good luck to Shawn in Beantown... We like fighters, so he'll become a crowd favorite if for nothing else but his fists.

ST: No, but unfortunately, I have thrown a club or two. You're supposed to be having a good time, but I'm pretty competitive. I'm not crazy, just competitive. Sometimes, I talk to my golf clubs like it's their fault. I'm trying to get better about that. I think I've become a lot more patient and have settled down. I used to have a bit of a temper.

"He'll give us that toughness," said coach Claude Julien, when asked about Thornton's role. "We want to be tougher and harder to play against, on the road and in our own building. We want to be a respected team, and not get pushed around."
...
"Great guy," said Ducks general manager Brian Burke, who apparently took time out of his K-Lowe bashing schedule for a comment on Thornton. "Loves to fight... and for the right reasons - sticks up for his teammates."

But the Bruins are determined that will change this season, and a big reason why is new winger Shawn Thornton, a rugged, 6-foot-2, 217-pounder who played a small but vital role on Anaheim’s Stanley Cup-winning team last season. Thornton and veteran grinder Brad May played on the “Crash Line” for the Ducks, who re-introduced the league to old-fashioned, tough hockey.
