Calling it Quits
QUOTE
It appears Jeremy Roenick's days in the NHL as a player have come to an end. The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that the veteran centre is retiring from the game after 18 seasons. Roenick spent the 2006-07 season with the Phoenix Coyotes, scoring 11 goals and 17 assists over 70 games.

ARTICLE >>>>

I really think he should have stayed just to get 500 goals. He was only five away.

IMO if you take away the last two years of his career, he was a great player, and people would love to have a career like he had.

Hello Jeremy, NBC here. We have a vacancy for the Bret Hull spot. What do you think of the Ducks?

Terrible, you say? Cool. You're hired.

That mouth will never go away. I remember him chatting away to the best of his ability when his broken jaw was wired shut. Nothin' stops him!

OK despite the fact that he sucks right now, I kinda feel sorry for him, but I can't help but say THANK GOD.
He's one witty character, and I'll certainly miss that.

Best moment of JR's waning career was at Frozen Fury a couple of years ago. Glass broke and it took the crew forever to replace it and he was trying to offer some suggestions when they started playing "Dancing". And the rest was more fun than the actual hockey game that night!

Disco Jeremy

What a character! Good luck JR!! bye2.gif

sad.gif I Love JR... He was one of those guys that could tell it the way it was. I met him once in 1997 at Cam Neely's golf tournament in Cape Cod. He was funny.. That mouth truly never stops! bye2.gif

Good luck JR......

I seriously do expect JR to get into broadcasting...he'd be America's answer to Don Cherry! I love that dancing clip too...Seattle sometimes uses it during our games. It is too bad he didn't quit before the last two embarassing years...and told the fans to kiss his grits during the lockout. dry.gif

Roenick's agent says final decision on Roenick retirement to come

QUOTE
Jeremy Roenick's agent says that retirement news regarding his client may be premature, despite the fact the news came from Roenick himself.

Neil Abbott, Roenick's agent, sent a statement to The Hockey News on Monday, saying that Roenick "is considering all of his options, including retirement, [but] has made no final decision."

...
In his statement to The Hockey News, Abbott said that a formal announcement regarding Roenick's final decision will be made in the next few weeks. He added that there was a recent death in Roenick's family that may have played a factor.

I really want JR to come back and play one more season. Just 5 goals. That's all he needs and he joins the legendary 500 goal club. Not many people get to hang out in that group.

I actually like Roenick, during his prime he was an awesome hockeyplayer. I know he's not that good anymore which is kinda sad to see, but I hope he has a good season with San Jose.

Is he trying to be on every Pacific Divsion team before he retires? biggrin.gif

I do like JR and was really hoping he would be a broadcaster this season. That itself would be worth keeping Center Ice & XM.

I thought the same thing when I heard the news. I'm just glad he's not a Duck (and hopefully never will be).

Think he'll finish with 500? Personally, I think he'll do it. I think he'll actually have an OK season (40 pts maybe). But then again, I'm generous.

Quite off topic but while we're on the subject of old people, I recently saw a photoshopped picture of Chelios in a fake funny add for a walker or something like that. Has anyone seen that, and if so, could they direct me to one on the net?
