looking at this list alot of the names here are washed up veterans mainly.

some could make nice additions though for a low price.

Saw Peter in friendly game HIFK vs. Icebreakers... and he is goooooooooooooooood. 2+3 in a 7:4 win. And both teams got 1 point from intermission skill competitions and Peter was part in Icebreakers "goal" there too...

Some other notable guys in that game: Näslund, Modin, Gagne, H.Sedin, Bäckström (forward), Hedström, Zidlicky, Lydman, Hagman, Salmelainen, J. Ruutu, Bäckstrom (goalie)...

With only a month until NHL preseason games get under way, several veteran free agents are still without a home.
...
The reality is the market might not be able to accommodate them now, although there's still time for teams to maneuver through trades. But seven of the league's 30 teams are already within $3 million of the $50.3 million salary cap, while another dozen have at least $43 million committed and not much wiggle room should they need it. And the teams with the most space might be among the league's most undesirable destinations. So much for the notion that summertime's when the living is easy.

Here's a look at some of the top players still without a contract.

The only player I would be happy or excited about if we signed would be Mike Peca. But we have too many centers. We need a winger.

As The Forsberg Turns

In case I happen to be enjoying a margarita by the pool when the next story about you breaks, here is a standard blog to cover me for the next few months while you recuperate and finally pick a team with which to play.

“_______________ has reported that superstar forward Peter Forsberg is being lured to lace up the skates for ______________ for the coming season.

The speculation is being fueled by the fact that the team has fellow Swede _______________ on the roster.

Forsberg would give the _____________ an added 1-2 punch down the middle and a new dynamic duo of Swedes Forsberg and ___________ would strike fear into the rest of the ____________ Conference."

Free agency is a funny animal in these post-lockout days. The surge in spending right after July 1 was widely expected — GMs collectively justified the dollars they were throwing around by pointing out that the drop in the age of unrestricted free agents made the terms less of a gamble than in the bad old days.

But even at that, the recent history of free-agent signings has shown that the best bargains came late — like Selanne, for example, who was on the market until Aug. 22 back in 2005, before agreeing to a modest one-year $1 million contract with the Ducks. Selanne, of course, scored 96 goals in the past two seasons.

Naturally, Linden and Peca are not going to produce those sorts of numbers, but all the intangibles that they possess — primarily leadership and experience — can add a dimension to their respective clubs.

With NHL training camps starting up this week, several notable veteran players remain unsigned and in search of work.

Goaltenders Curtis Joseph and Robert Esche, defensemen Danny Markov, Bryan Berard and Brent Sopel, and forward Eric Lindros are still available and likely affordable at this late date.
